3D Robotics Solo Drone – Available at Best Buy!

best buy disclosure

If you are looking for a great Father’s Day gift (or birthday gift, or even if you are a planner – a Christmas gift) you have to check and see if your local Best Buy carries the amazing Solo 3DR Drone. These drones are so awesome, I’m thinking about getting one for myself!

·   Solo can guide it’s own flight (smart shot mode), allowing the user to focus on getting the perfect shot. Solo is the first to support full control of  GoPro® cameras and deliver live HD video either wirelessly to your mobile device or through the controller’s HDMI port!

Here’s why I LOVE this drone. While in Smart Shot mode you can actually tell the drone how to  fly – Here’s the different  smart shot options:

Cablecam: Lock Solo onto a virtual cable between any two points in space. Then, using just one stick on the controller, you can move Solo up and down the cable. This lets you freely pan and tilt the camera while the drone stays in steady flight. Solo can even memorize your first and last frames and pan the camera between them.

Orbit: Solo can automatically circle a subject of your choosing, keeping the camera pointed inward to capture an iconic wraparound shot. Adjust the circle’s radius to get the exact frame you want, even mid-flight.

Selfie: With just one touch, Solo will fly up and away, keeping the camera centered on you so the scenery around you expands in a dramatic aerial pullout shot. (My favorite!!)

Follow Me: Go completely hands-free. Solo can follow where you go, automatically keeping the camera on you to capture your every move. (stalker drone!)

Also, the controller is built for aerial photography. Its like a video game–style design, so it feels familiar, even to new pilots. It even has a pause button that will let you stop the Solo mid-flight at anytime.

Right now you can  get a FREE Solo Smart Battery (Reg. Price: $149.99) when you purchase the 3DR Solo Drone (Sku: 5354101). Valid 6/7-7/11 at Best Buy.

Disclaimer: Offer valid with purchase of the 3DR Solo Drone SKU: 5351035

5 Tips for Bike Rider Beginners

Well, I don’t know about all of you but I’ve been in health mode lately! I’m really trying to turn my health around and get in shape! I have begun bicycle riding and when I first started, I didn’t think I would EVER last with doing this! But I never gave up! Bicycle riding is a fantastic workout! It is a great form of cardio, and great for those of us who have a bigger lower section, really helps to thin out the legs! So, bicycle riding can be difficult and it’s not an easy task…but it is possible! If I can do it, you can do it! So here’s a few tips to get you from beginner to pro in no time!
 5_tips_for_bike_riding_beginners
1. Get a nice comfortable bike. I would not recommend getting a mountain bike, they have tiny seats and sometimes can be difficult to ride. I would recommend getting a cruiser bike, but one that also has gears. I personally have a 7 speed cruiser from Walmart to support breast cancer awareness!  They are extremely affordable, look great, and operate great! What is nice about cruisers is that they have big, nice, roomy seats for a much more comfortable ride, which can be vital when it comes to your riding experience.
2.Stay Hydrated!! Hydration is EXTREMELY important when doing any type of physical activity, especially when it is Summer and the temperature can get up to 90+ degrees! I recommend getting a camelback backpack for hydration while you are riding. But if you don’t want to splurge for that feature, a simple water bottle can be thrown into a drawstring backpack and you can stay hydrated that way. I recommend this one from Amazon, it’s a great price.
3. Keep a good pace. You aren’t in a race, you’re simply trying to get a nice, effective workout in when you’re a beginner. So don’t worry about pedaling extremely fast or anything like that. Go as slow as you would like, just as long as you are constantly pedaling. Keeping a constant, no matter what speed, is what is going to make or break your workout. The more you are moving, the more calories you are going to burn..and the harder your body is working out.
4. Choose a flat trail. Being a beginner, it can be extremely hard on your body to try to go up and down hills on your bike ride. I started trying to ride around my neighborhood because I thought that would be easier than doing a bike trail. But it was actually much much harder than I thought. So I was introduced to a trail that although it was over 40 miles long, it was completely flat. And the great part is, you don’t have to ride the whole trail. You can choose how far you want to go, and then turn around and head back. It’s not mandatory! If you’re local to the Cincinnati-Area, I recommend the Loveland Bike Trail. Check out their site here for directions.
5. Download a tracking app. There are several apps in both the Android as well as the Apple App stores that you can download to track your whole trip via GPS, how many calories you burn, your speed, as well as how long it took you to complete your workout. I highly recommend the app, Map My Ride found in the Apple iTunes store. This is extremely helpful to me, it helps me to set new goals for myself, and the great thing is, it talks to me and tells me distance and time as I go. Every 5 miles it tells you what milestone you are at and how long it has been. This is a great app, it helps track my workout and you can even share to social media your accomplishments so your friends and family can support you as well! You can read more about Map My Ride here.
I hope everyone takes the initiative to get out and get active this summer! Bike riding has become a new love of mine, although it was difficult at first..I now love to do it and never want Summer to end so I can constantly go! It helps me to maintain an active lifestyle, as well as a new hobby of mine that I thoroughly enjoy! I hope these tips help encourage you on your journey to begin bike riding! Have fun, and be safe!

Cute & Simple 4th of July Fun with SweetWorks

This is a Fashionista Event and a promotional item was provided to me by Sweetworks. Hosts for this event are Still Blonde after all these Years and ModlyChic.

Every year we have a get together to celebrate the 4th of July. The past few years I’ve been impressed with the creativity from my family members on cute decor, and creative recipes. (I am going to say Thank you Pinterest for that). I am not usually very artistic (though I wish I was) so a lot of my great ideas end up being great  big fails. I decided to start early this year and experiment so I could come up with something that looked great, and even that the kids could help me with – we got a supply for great candy from SweetWorks and got to work.

As I looked through my box of red, white and blue sixlets, colored foiled chocolate balls, candied stars and gum balls, I started thinking about Captain America. We set out to make an adorable Captain America shield that we could use on cupcakes, cakes, cheesecakes and more.
I tried to make a star, but again, I’m not all that artistic like some of you. So we opted for the candied stars in a red, white and blue pattern, and we were pretty pleased with the results.

The kids were able to help and had a lot of fun. Usually with these type of projects they are tedious and extremely time consuming, but the patterns were a lot of fun!

So we had a good idea of what to do with our desserts – but what about decorations? I found these awesome milk bottles at Target and decided to use them for some decor. We used red, white and blue sixlets to create our centerpieces for the tables. These would also be super cute for weddings as well (SweetWorks sells sixlets in all kinds of different colors).

We have a ton more candy to experiment with, so keep an eye out, I’m sure well be sharing more of our ideas!

Strawberry Greek Yogurt Bark

Ingredients:
-1 Tub Vanilla Greek Yogurt
-Strawberry Extract
DSCN0457

Process:
-Mix together yogurt and strawberry extract, I just eyeballed the amount of extract but I would say around a teaspoon. Add more for a stronger flavor
-Line a glass pan with wax paper
-Pour mixture into pan and spread evenly
-Freeze for about 4 hours
-Break into pieces
-Enjoy!

You can add nuts, fresh fruit, dried fruit, whatever you’d like. But I just like mine plain! This is a great healthy alternative for kids for an after school snack!

How to Get Paid to Write

Getting paid to write… it sounds like a dream. But, it’s such a broad term. How do you get paid to write? Whether you enjoy writing about techy subjects, or just want to offer some parenting advice and make a little cash for it, writing is something you can get paid to do.

Female programmer writing notes on piece of paper while typing laptop keyboard, side view.

You don’t have to have a degree, and really you don’t even need much experience. You do, however, need to be a great writer. Some places are more lenient on what they let through, but for the most part you do need to make sure you’re up to speed on proper grammar and spelling.

Deciding what to charge is the most difficult part for some people, but really I find it to be simple. If I want to make $100 an hour, and it takes me 30 minutes to write an article, I charge $50 per article and I’ve met my $100 an hour goal. You can also charge per word. You don’t want to undercharge, but because so many write for next to nothing, sometimes it’s difficult to get paid what you’re worth. Building up your portfolio is the best way to make more money for less work.

You might get paid pennies at first, but there’s no shortage of folks that are making bank by writing! The more you write, the more you make. It’s a numbers game.

By the way, you should get paid for writing gigs, but sometimes exposure to millions of readers is more valuable than a $100 bill. For example, the Huffington Post doesn’t pay you to write, but saying you’re a HuffPost writer is so valuable!

Practice makes perfect.

If you have friends that have blogs, work for newspapers, or otherwise have connections to get your work out there – utilize them! The more you write, the better you get at it.

Join the right groups.

If you are looking for writing gigs on Facebook, it’s important to realize that not all groups are created equal. Join groups like Elite VA Buy/Sell Content to be in front of the perfect audience – bloggers! They only want the best, though, so make sure you’re delivering or your client base will never grow.

Be professional.

Set up a LinkedIn profile, create a professional social media bio, and make sure your personal page is locked down unless you’re professional 100% of the time. I’m not saying you can’t show a little personality, but if you’re dropping the “f” bomb in your statuses, you’re not likely to get hired to write for a parenting blog.
