Could Feng Shui Bring Some Calm to Your Home?

When you have a busy house filled with busy, overworked parents and kids of all different ages, relations are sure to become fractured sometimes. Especially when you add teenagers and their flying hormones into the mix! Maybe bad Feng Shui could take some of the blame?

At its most basic level, bad Feng Shui causes conflict whilst good Feng Shui brings harmony. Many people think of Feng Shui as being something better suited to the homes of minimalist childless couples, or elderly yoga enthusiasts. But in reality, it is a practice ideal for bringing calm and harmony to family homes too. Here’s how:

1.Add Wooden Elements to Increase Family Harmony

Wood is one of the most important Feng Shui elements if you want to add the energy of growth, expansion, and vitality to your home. These are all great elements to introduce to the expanding minds of growing children, and will help turn a combative family environment into a collaborative one.

Obviously, there are plenty of different wooden pieces you can add to your family room: new furniture, lamps, and decorative items can all be purchased easily. However, the easiest and cheapest way to add wood elements to your living space is to choose some happy family photos, put them in wooden frames, and distribute them liberally around the room.

  1. Introduce Water to Your Home

Feng Shui believes that the movement of water closely represents the movement of energy in your life and in your home. Moving water also has a calming effect, and will cool firey personalities. As an added bonus, flowing water is also thought to improve the flow of healthy finances into your life too! An indoor fountain is a fun design feature that is sure to attract the attention of your guests (many look like incredible pieces of modern art) and is one of the easiest and most stylish ways to bring water into your interior. A fish tank would also make a fun alternative if you’re looking for a smaller and less impactful statement.

  1. Declutter As Much as Possible

Finally, where there are kids, there is clutter! However clutter and mess is the root cause of many elements of bad Feng Shui. If possible, do what you can to declutter your home (particularly the main living areas when you are your family spend most of your time) to create a better balance and harmony in these spaces.

One of the best Feng Shui decluttering system we’ve seen involves grabbing three bags or baskets (labelled ‘in’, ‘out’ and ‘thrift’) and simply throwing every piece of clutter you come across into one of the three baskets. Limit your decluttering sessions to just 30 minutes at a time, so that the process doesn’t leave the process stealing your energy.

Bringing some simple elements of Feng Shui into your home is much easier than you might think, and you’re sure to be amazed by the changes it will lead to in the overall energy of your home and the mood of your family in a relatively short amount of time.

Can You Get Healthy & Still Enjoy Your Life?

When it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle, it’s easy to believe that you have to suffer or make a lot of sacrifices to make it happen. Sometimes, you picture yourself living a boring and basic life, without any fun. And that’s definitely more than enough to put anyone off. But there seems to be so many misconceptions about healthy living out there, most of which are easy to believe. So you’ll be glad to know that, if you do want to get healthy, you don’t have to make too many drastic changes for it to happen. Of course, you are going to have to change your life in a few ways, especially if you want to see a difference, but not all of them are bad.

Because you can get healthy and still enjoy your life. You just have to be smart about how you do it. If you were to try and go cold turkey, and literally live off of cold turkey and start running everywhere, that could be quite challenging. But it’s also not very realistic. So even if, right now, you feel like the unhealthiest person in the world, you won’t be forever. Because we’re going to walk through a few healthy lifestyle changes that can make all the difference, and that will allow you to still be happy with your life too.

Food

Focus On Fuel

When you’re eating just for pleasure, you can find yourself opting for all the wrong things. At the same time, when you let your cravings take control, you can find yourself getting a little in over your head. Because one indulgence often leads to another. So instead, you should try to see food as fuel. When you do, you will find it easier to eat well. Because you’ll start to make decisions based on what’s best for your body, not what you’re emotionally craving.

Go Homemade

Next, you’re going to want to think about cooking a lot more. Although it’s easy to order a takeout, or buying yourself something that’s ready-made, these options aren’t always the healthiest for you. Instead, you should try to cook everything from scratch. That way, you know what’s in your meals, and it’s a lot better for your health too.

Try 80:20

From here, you may also want to think about trying to find a good balance with what you eat. Because this has to still be fun. If you try to eat well 80 per cent of the time, you should definitely think about enjoying what you want for the remaining 20 per cent. That way, you get to enjoy your food, but not overindulge – and it will seem easier to stick to.

Exercise

Set Some Goals

Up first, you need to think about setting yourself the right goals. Whether you need to lose weight, or you just want to benefit from more energy, goals can help you here. To inspire you, you may want to ready a weight loss success story and look for people that motivate you. You can then write out your goals, which will give you a guideline to work towards.

Find Your Feet

From here, you’re then going to want to work on establishing the right kind of exercise regime for you. Because if it’s not personal, you’re not going to either enjoy it, or what to stick to it. However, when you try out different exercises, you’ll be able to find your feet, and decide on a routine that works best for your lifestyle. Because going to the gym isn’t for everyone, sometimes you need to do a dance class or play tennis to get your workout in and still enjoy it.

Commit

But you’re going to have to do more than just try out different things if you want to become healthier. You need to commit to your new exercise regime too. Consistency matters when it comes to all things fitness; it’s how you get results. So no matter how you decide to work out, don’t set impossible expectations for yourself. Because you need to keep it up, whether it’s one day each week or three.

Move More

Above all else, to make this as enjoyable for yourself – and as easy as possible. So you’re going to want to try and be as active as you can in everyday life. Not just with working out. You might be able to bag yourself some quick wins with your activity levels by walking instead of driving or choosing to take the stairs.

Social

Get Out More

You may think that your health is just based on your diet and exercise, but that’s not taking an holistic approach to your health. Because your mental and emotional well being can contribute to your health levels too, and even make everything feel that much easier to stick too. And there are a bunch of health benefits of socializing that you’re not going to want to ignore. So make sure you get out more, you have every excuse to as it’s good for your health.

Find A Balance

If you think that you can’t go out and socialize because you’re trying to be good, then you’re wrong. You just have to learn to be healthy when you’re eating out. And these days, most places offer balanced menus. So what you need to work on here is your mindset, not banning yourself from going out. You need to learn to make the right choices when you do go out, rather than letting yourself slip.

Change Your Mindset

And let’s talk about that mindset of yours, because it can apply to more than just food. Yes, you need to pick healthier choices from the menu, but you should also think about doing healthier social activities too. You don’t always have to go out for a drink with your friends. You could think about playing sports or doing active activities, rather than going for some of the more unhealthy options. That way, you can still have fun, but make healthy choices too.

Family

Include Them Too

First of all, you’re definitely going to want to involve your family in your new healthy efforts too. After all, you’re starting to take care of your body, so why not take care of theirs too? If you really want to be healthy, then it’s important for everyone to be healthy too. And when you do it together, everything can often feel so much easier.

Spend Quality Time

From here, you’re going to want to think about spending some quality time together too. Again, we’re going for a holistic approach here, because your emotional health matters too. And the importance of family time should never be ignored. It could be what you need to feel better in your life too.

Get Active Together

So start to think of the ways you can get active together. Again, when you do it as a family, it can be so much more fun too. Maybe you want to go on hikes or cycle rides? Whatever you decide, getting active together can make things way more enjoyable for you all.

Focus On Mental Health

Finally, you should also think about your mental health too. Because when you’re stressed out, you don’t tend to feel as healthy. So relax more. Take some time out and don’t feel guilty about it. After all, it’s what your health needs! And when you look at it like this, who could ever think being healthy is boring!

Myrtle Beach: It’s Not Just for Summer

I have always loved the beach – it’s my favorite place. I try to go every year whenever possible. I usually go when it’s busy and crowded, but I don’t care – I LOVE THE BEACH! I’ve always went to the beach in the summer, mostly that’s because when my kids are off school, and I never really thought about how relaxing and enjoyable an off-season trip would be. So when my husband and I were invited to visit Myrtle Beach this fall, I jumped at the chance; I mean, the beach is beautiful no matter what time of year it is right??

We were invited to stay at the SeaWatch Resort which is a family resort, and one of the most friendly , relaxing places I’ve stayed while visiting Myrtle Beach. They give you the full-on resort experience with 2 lazy rivers, 2 ocean-front pools, ten hot tubs, an indoor pool and even a kiddie pool to boot! They have rooms to fit nearly any family size, from ocean front studios to three bedroom condos.

The view at SeaWatch is spectacular, and the staff is outstanding! I have noticed at a lot of places I’ve stayed the staff is “OK” but the staff at SeaWatch was so helpful, kind, and always smiling! In fact, since they knew my husband and I were there on a romantic long weekend, they brought us a sweet little romantic package to our room once we were settled. It was a small sweet gesture, that meant so much!

The beach was beautiful, and even though the temps were in the 60’s (sometimes 70’s when I was lucky) the sun was shining enough to enjoy some time at the beach. In fact, the beach wasn’t packed like it normally is during the summer so we had plenty of room (and even quiet). It was completely gorgeous!

Beautiful night 🌊 🌅

I have decided in fact, that fall is my new favorite time to visit the beach! There is tons of fun stuff to do in the fall and winter as well, (keep an eye out for my next post: I’ll be telling you all about my day exploring – including meeting a LIGER!- stay tuned!!)

What Is Vaginoplasty And Could It Help You?

There are a lot of elective surgical procedures out there that people use to improve the look or function of part of their body. However, while most people are familiar with things like nose jobs, face lifts, and breast augmentation as a concept, fewer women are aware that it is also possible to have surgeries that can improve the look and shape of your more intimate parts.

Vaginoplasty and labiaplasty are procedures that people use for a number of reasons, and when vaginoplasty surgery is done by a good surgeon like David Ghozland, they can generally give the results promised.

What Is Vaginoplasty And Who Benefits From It?

Vaginoplasty is a procedure used to ‘tighten up’ the vagina. This can be done for a number of things. For instance, a vagina may have become looser during childbirth and can’t be fixed with things like Kegel exercises. It can also be the result of ageing.

The main reason why people book a vaginoplasty is to improve sexual sensation and confidence. Some women feel less appealing to current or potential partners if they have looseness because of birth or ageing, and also don’t enjoy intercourse as much. Vaginoplasty can help them regain their confidence and enjoyment. As such, it is most popular with middle-aged women and women who had difficult births.

What Is Labioplasty And What Is This Used For?

Another form of elective surgery some women have is labioplasty. Labioplasty is more a cosmetic procedure, which changes the shape and size of the inner or outer labia. This is usually done because someone is unhappy with oversized or asymmetric labia and would like to correct this, and occasionally it is done as reconstructive surgery.

Is Vaginoplasty Right For You?

As with any surgery, vaginoplasty and labioplasty do carry some risks from anaesthetic and infection, so while they are common and professionally performed procedures, you should still weigh up the benefits before deciding whether they are your best option. Some people can achieve tighter vaginas after childbirth or in middle-age simply by doing exercises that tighten the muscles, and so if the problem is not severe, this is worth trying before going under the knife. However, if you have always been self-conscious about your labia or have become less confident or found sex less enjoyable since you lost your pre-children, youthful ‘tightness’, then considering vaginoplasty may well help you psychologically as well as physically.

If you have a problem that you think could potentially be addressed by this kind of surgery, the best thing to do is arrange a consultation with a good surgeon and talk through the options available to you. In cosmetic surgery, every case is different and so this initial consultation is important in answering your questions and helping you decide if the surgery is something you want to go ahead with.

Vaginoplasty is becoming increasingly popular, however, and there are plenty of women who have no regrets about taking the plunge!

Treat the Team with Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen

This post is sponsored by Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen – though I was compensated for my time, all opinions are my own.

It’s that time of year – fall sports are in full swing! It’s actually one of my favorite sports seasons, because pretty much any sport you play has a league in the fall.

Our fall teams work very hard – practicing 3 or more times a week, plus one or two games a week on top of it. Sometimes the kids spend more time with their teammates then they do their own families we keep them so busy! So when it’s all said and done, we like to treat the team to a special day out. This year, we were lucky enough to treat them to Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen for a homemade made-from-scratch meal!

Now I don’t know about you, but our kids after a big game are starving. They couldn’t get their menu’s fast enough to see what they wanted – my little guy of course knew right away he wanted ‘the best mac n’ cheese ever‘ as he calls it. He pretty much licks the bowl clean it’s so good!

Let me tell ya’ – the delicious homemade kids meals from Cheddar’s are cheaper than fast food kid meals. Let that sink in for a minute. So even if you don’t think you can keep your team tamed enough to all sit down at a restaurant for a meal, get it to go! They have convenient carry-out service, and they will make sure to send forks and spoons and napkins so you could even have a party in the park!

He loves him some mac n’ cheese!
Of course no visit to Cheddar’s is complete without dessert! The boys said they could handle their own hot fudge cake – so we let them give it a try (most desserts are big enough for 2 to share; but they’ve been good sports all year, so we let them get their own). In my opinion, I’d make a trip to Cheddar’s just for dessert!

They got started pretty quick – and realized their eyes were a bit bigger than their stomachs
