Everyday Doesn’t Have to Be a Bad Hair Day

“This post is sponsored by Aflac.  I was compensated for writing it, but all opinions are 100 percent mine.”

It never fails if I start my day off with a bad hair day – the rest of the day follows suit. It  seems like if something can go wrong, it will go wrong. Have you ever had one of those days??

Totally Awesome Pizza Cookies

This recipe will make 12-16 pizza sugar cookies:

INGREDIENTS
2 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks), softened
1 3/4 cups sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
Wilton candy melts – red
White chocolate bar (I used 1/2 of a 4.4 oz Lindt white chocolate bar), shredded
Red and green M&M’s

Pizza Cookies 4-2

DIRECTIONS
1.   Preheat oven to 375° degrees.
2.   In a small mixing bowl, add the flour, baking soda and baking powder.
3.   In a medium mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4.   Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix till blended.
5.   Add the dry ingredients and mix until well-incorporated.
6.   Using a medium-sized cookie scoop, form 12 balls out of the dough and place on parchment-lined cookie sheet.
7.   Bake for 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool for at least 2 hours on a wire rack.
8.   Microwave 1/2 cup of the red Wilton candy melts for 45 seconds. Stir until completely melted.
9.   Spread the melted candy on each sugar cookie.
10.  Using a cheese grater, shred the white chocolate bar into a small bowl (to look like pizza cheese).
11.  Sprinkle the grated white chocolate on top of each cookie. Be sure to do this step before the red icing completely dries on the cookie or the white chocolate will not stick.
12.   Lay red and green M&M’s on top of the shredded white chocolate to resemble pizza ingredients.
13.   ENJOY!

Need a Doctors Opinion in a Flash? Check out Amwell

I participated in the Amwell blog program as a member of One2One Network. I received compensation but all opinions are my own.
amwell_logo

Being a Mom of 3 I have spent more than my fair share of time sitting in the Doctor’s office – more of that time spent in the waiting room than actually in with the Doctor’s themselves.  When you have limited hours of PTO time to last you a year, saving a trip to the doctor’s office can not just save you time, but money (and a possible enjoyable PTO day  off work!)

So when I heard about the Amwell app, I got pretty excited. Amwell is the nation’s largest telehealth company that connects you with board-certified licensed doctors -who are dedicated to keeping you healthy -for immediate and live online visits -day or night! You can access Amwell on your cell, or computer, from the comfort of your own home.

Earlier this week my  left eye was itching, and  really sensitive.  I put it off for a few days, but it kept getting worse. Since I wear contacts, I knew it was something I needed to see a doctor about, because it could  spread to my eye.

I downloaded the Amwell app and selected a Doctor and within a few minutes I had one live. I explained my symptoms and my concerns,  and she was certain that it was an allergic reaction or sensitivity to a new make-up I had recently purchased. She recommended some cortisone cream, and Benadryl. Within 2 days  I was back to normal! No long wait at the doctor’s office, and I didn’t even have to take off any time from work – a  complete win/win for me.

It’s really easy to use – you just choose the type of visit you  are looking for, and select a provider. Depending on the issue, the doctor can usually diagnose you, suggest a follow-up, and prescribe (when appropriate).

Amwell is accepted by major insurers, all  you have to do is enter your health insurance information for a low cost visit.

Don’t just take my  word for it, right now you can get your first visit free with promo code: MOMSLOVEAMWELL
