Online Curriculum

  • The curriculum includes 18 themes relevant to young children, such as "Family and Friends," "My Five Senses," and "Looking at Animals."
  • In each theme, the instructor and students will explore six subjects: language arts, math, science, social studies, art, and music.
  • Each subject comes alive through hundreds of online and offline activities.

Hands-On Materials

Fitness Friday: Music is Motivation

I’ve talked a lot about fitness/health goals and how to keep on track. We’ve discussed finding fitness buddies, setting small monthly goals, and planning ahead. One subject I haven’t mentioned yet are the great fitness devices you can use to help track and motivate your journey to a healthier you.

I use my FitBit to track my steps to make sure I’m getting at least 10k steps a day. I use my heart rate monitor to track my heart rate, since I know I need to keep it above a certain number to make sure I’m burning as many calories as possible during work outs.

One thing that is essential to me during a workout, is music. Have you ever went to the gym and forgot your iPod or phone? Gah. It makes your work out’s not only boring, but they seem to be never ending. Having some great upbeat music keeps my mind distracted and my feet moving.

But one thing I’ve always had a hard time with is my ear buds. The cords like to tangle with the treadmill handle, or get stuck on my jacket and rip them right out of my ear (not pleasant). When I’m running they bounce around and the cords get tangled together making the buds fall out of my ears that way as well. But I think I have finally found a solution to the madness.

If you’ve never been in one of the stores I would highly recommend it. They have samples of the ham and turkey, as well as all the tasty dipping sauces. I think my kids took full advantage while I wasn’t looking – they couldn’t stop snacking! Once I took a look at the catering menu my mouth was watering. The array of items to chose from made it a daunting task to decide on what items to order. The Super Sandwich was a must-have, and we also ordered a Signature HoneyBaked Chef Salad Bowl, and the delicious Cheesecake Sampler Platter. I’m getting hungry again just thinking about it.

I must mention the lunch as well –  I got the Turkey Club Melt and I can honestly say it’s one of the most delicious sandwiches I have ever ate. My son also went to town on his ham sandwich, he was making NOM NOM noises and smacking his lips the entire time (I promise he’s not food deprived, he’s just picky!) My girl’s enjoyed some BLT’s.

Knowing that my game day food was ordered and would be ready for me to pick up before the big game… and (GASP) no excess work for me made my day! I can just sit back and enjoy the game (like the men usually do! HA!) and not worry about the hassle of preparing food and the worst part – clean up.
