Try Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers with a $50 Costco Gift Card Giveaway

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Huggies® Brand. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

huggies-snug-and-dryA few weeks ago I told you about an exclusive opportunity to snag a Huggies Snug & Dry Plus Diapers and Huggies Natural Care Plus Wipes sample from  Costco. Many of you have told me you were able to snag a sample, and were interested in checking out  Costco for your baby diapering needs. As I mentioned before, I did my research and buying diapers in bulk is significantly cheaper than picking up packs here and there at the grocery or super center.

Though we are almost out of the diaper stage, I still purchase the Huggies Natural Care Plus Wipes for multi use around our home. At Costco you can score a box of wipes (5 bags) plus a wipes container for less than $25 bucks. A box of diapers is less than $40 and they last around 3-4 weeks (depending on size, etc.) – compare for yourself, even with coupons at your local grocer/super center, you will still save money purchasing your diapers/wipes at Huggies!

You know how much I love Huggies – and recommend any new (or experienced) Mom to give Huggies a try, so I am giving 1 lucky winner a chance to win a $50 Costco gift card to go pick up your Huggies from  Costco and see the difference!

Quick & Easy after School Snacks

This shop has been compensated by #CollectiveBias, Inc. and it’s advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

I can’t believe it’s that time again – Back to School! The kids and I are working on getting back to our routine which is bad and wonderful at the same time. Bad because it’s the end of the summer, the pool, the lazy nights, the camp fires, the vacations! But wonderful because we will be back on routine and it won’t be so hard to get them out of bed early in the mornings!. We’ve been slowly but surely going to bed earlier, getting up and actually getting ready for the day, making our list for school supplies, new clothes, shoes, and of course lunches and  easy to make snacks!

My girls are finally at an age where they can come home and be by themselves after school until I get home from work. We have strict rules for the short time they are home: no one  else in the house, no answering the door, keep the doors locked, check in when you get there, no oven or boiling water, no fighting, etc. They usually like to relax after they get off the bus with a computer  game or a bit of T.V. before I get home and start making them do homework. The one thing that is always on the after school check list is an after school snack. My girls both have early lunches so by the time they get off the bus they are starving. If I was at home I’d have them dinner ready, but I work and our dinners don’t come until 6:30 or later so we’ve had to come up with some quick and easy after school snacks.

We made our way to Walmart to pick out some easy snacks that they are able to fix on their own – and enjoy. My girls are a bit picky when it  comes to their afternoon snacks so not just anything would do – and I want to make sure they aren’t just munching on junk. We searched the frozen food isle and  the girls found some yummy Delimex beef rolled tacos and chicken taquitos and I  was thrilled to find out that Bagel Bites are made with real  cheese and homemade sauce with 0 trans fat.

My favorite part about these easy snacks is that my oldest is a microwave pro – no oven needed! They get home and they make a beeline for the freezer so they can heat up their snack and not miss their favorite afternoon show, or relax and read for a bit before homework and chore time start when I get home.

She even fixes a snack for her sister (which I swear by the fact that children get along only when parents are not present) and they aren’t calling me every 5 minutes to ask me when I’ll be home and what we are having for dinner. Full bellies = happy kids.

Febreze #NoseBlind Movie Night Challenge

This review and giveaway was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Febreze. I was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine.”

Have you seen those great #NoseBlind Challenge commercials on T.V? You know where they stick the  two blindfolded ladies in the car with dirty gym socks and old pizza and ask them to describe what they smell? Then they are totally shocked to see what was actual in the vehicle? The commercials are great, and I always wondered if it really worked that well – well let me tell you, it does! I was challenged to do the #NoseBlind Test in my home by having a movie night with my friends and challenge them to the test!
Our #NoseBlind Kit contained the following:

1 Febreze Air Effects
1 Febreze Fabric  Refresher
1 Febreze Noticeables with Refill
1 Febreze Candle
2 envelopes containing the #NoseBlind Challenge

febreze

First off I may be a bit #NoseBlind to the smells in my home, but I’m not unaware. Our dog is our major contributor, along with the old mildewy smell from our basement – especially when the air is running. We get use to it ,but when I come home from a trip or a long weekend away those are the first things I notice. I know my friends are too nice to tell me what they smell, so with the Febreze #NoseBlind Movie Night  Challenge they were given a link to a quiz asking them questions about the evening – including the smells before, during and after the party.

For our fun movie night we watched a chick flick and treated our self to some yummy buttery popcorn. The kids smelled it from their movie night in their room as well, so overall we went through an entire box! The house smelt just like a movie theater (minus the sticky seats and the rude person in front of you on their cell phone).

Part of the challenge was to try to eliminate these strong smells  and actually test to see if the Febreze products worked – and let me tell you they did!!! We lite the candle, used the fabric refresher on the couches/carpet, and sprayed the air freshner as well as plugged in the Frebreze plug-in. My house was  smelling quite tropical and there wasn’t a hint of the indulgent night we had pigging out on popcorn except for the empty bags in the trash!

Join the challenge at NoseBlind.com – and Check out Febreze on Facebook & Twitter to see what others are saying about #NoseBlind!

Boating Safety: Staying Safe while Having Fun in the Water

I participated in an Ambassador Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Discover Boating. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.”

This summer has been super amazing. We were able to take 2 trips; one up to the Coast of North Eastern Maine, another down to the Gulf in Florida. My favorite part about the trips is that they were both on the water. One on the river, the other on the ocean. Both so different, but so much the same.  There’s just something about the smell of the water, the beauty of the sun reflecting off the water, the peace. Just like any other fun activity, safety is always a top concern, and I wanted to share our top safety tips for boating.

camp

You learned the “rules of the road” before you sat behind the wheel of a car and you should do the same before taking the helm. Just like studying to get your driver’s license, it is very important to have the boating information and certifications you need to be a safe boater before you hit the water. In fact, a number of states require powerboat operators to take a boater’s education course and carry a license or certificate proving successful course completion any time they’re on the water. By consulting a safe boating guide and obtaining the required certificates beforehand, you not only protect yourself and family but other boaters on the water.

No matter how much experience you have, it’s always a good idea for everyone to review boating safety rules before departures. Below you will find 10 basic boating safety tips to help you stay safe:

  • Be Weather-Wise

Always check local weather conditions before departure; TV and radio forecasts can be a good source of information. If you notice darkening clouds, volatile and rough changing winds or sudden drops in temperature, play it safe by getting off the water.

  • Follow a Pre-Departure Checklist

Proper boating safety includes being prepared for any possibility on the water. Following a pre-departure checklist is the best way to make sure no boating safety rules or precautions have been overlooked or forgotten.

  • Use Common Sense

One of the most important parts of boating safety is to use your common sense. This means operating at a safe speed at all times (especially in crowded areas), staying alert at all times and steering clear of large vessels and watercraft that can be restricted in their ability to stop or turn. Also, be respectful of buoys and other navigational aids, all of which have been placed there to ensure your own safety

  • Designate an Assistant Skipper

Make sure more than one person on board is familiar with all aspects of your boat’s handling, operations, and general boating safety. If the primary navigator is injured or incapacitated in any way, it’s important to make sure someone else can follow the proper boating safety rules to get everyone else back to shore.

  • Develop a Float Plan

Whether you choose to inform a family member or staff at your local marina, always be sure to let someone else know your float plan. This should include where you’re going and how long you’re going to be gone.

A float plan can include the following information:

  • name, address, and phone number of trip leader
  • name and phone number of all passengers
  • boat type and registration information
  • trip itinerary
  • types of communication and signal equipment onboardkayla and mommy boating
  • Make Proper Use of Lifejackets

Did you know that the majority of drowning victims are the result of boaters not wearing their lifejackets? Make sure that your family and friends aren’t part of this statistic by assigning and fitting each member of your onboard team with a life jacket prior to departure.

  • Avoid Alcohol

Practice boating safety at all times by saving the alcohol for later. The probability of being involved in a boating accident doubles when alcohol is involved and studies have shown that the effects of alcohol are exacerbated by sun and wind.

  • Learn to Swim

If you’re going to be in and around the water, proper boating safety includes knowing how to swim. Local organizations, such as the American Red Cross and others, offer training for all ages and abilities. Check to see what classes are offered in your area.

  • Take a Boating Course

Beginning boaters and experienced experts alike need to be familiar with the boating safety rules of operation. Boater education requirements vary by state; however, some require validated completion of at least one boating safety course. Regardless of your individual state’s requirements, it’s always important to be educated and prepared for every circumstance that might arise. You can learn boating safety rules by taking a local community course oronline course to help educate yourself.

  • Consider a Free Vessel Safety Check

Take advantage of a free vessel safety check from the US Coast Guard. They offer complimentary boat examinations to verify the presence and condition of certain safety equipment required by state and federal regulations. Free of charge, they’ll provide a specialist to check out your boat and make helpful boating safety tips and recommendations. They also offer virtual online safety checks as well.
