5 Tips for Finding the Right Car

There isn’t much that is more stressful than needing to buy a new car – trust me, I know firsthand since I just purchased one myself two months ago. Besides the stress of figuring out what you can afford, how long you can afford it, and then negotiating prices with the sales person, you also need to know what type of vehicle is right for you. If you are going to invest a lot of money and a lot of time, you want a vehicle that is going to meet all of your needs in the long run.

Before heading to the dealership there are a few things you need to take into account when you are deciding on what type of vehicle to purchase: – See more at: http://www.amesford.com/custom/finding-the-right-car#sthash.dv6YIIoV.dpuf

Share Your Hometown Hero for a Chance to Win!

This is a sponsored post on behalf of  Mrs. Fields. Though I was compensated for my time, all opinions are my own.

define_hero

The definition of a hero can vary from person to person – a hero to me personally, would be our soldiers. Brave men and women who risk their lives on a regular basis to protect our freedom. Your definition of hero may be the single Mom doing it on her own, or a friend who is bravely facing a life-threatening disease.

Whoever your hero, Mrs.Fields® is searching for America’s hometown heroes to appear on future boxes of Mrs. Fields® cookies. Just enter and share your hero’s story for a chance to win a year’s supply of cookies for your and your hero in the Mrs.Fields® #ShareYourHero Sweepstakes.

Share_your_hero

I started to think about who I wanted to share as my hero – I know so many that I admire and respect, especially our service men and women. As I was trying to decide on who I wanted to chose, (and of course I was doing that while scrolling through Facebook) my cousin’s profile popped up and I knew just who I was going to use.

You see eleven years ago, just shy of his twenty-third birthday my cousin’s husband was killed by a bomb in Iraq. Married for only a few years, my cousin was now a widow. Chuck was a great guy, willing to do anything for the people he loved – and for his country. He made the ultimate sacrifice – and to me, there is no bigger hero. I know his family and friends would be proud to see Chuck’s face on a box at the grocery store honoring him and the sacrifice he made for all of us.

Chuck

AS A PROUD SUPPORTER OF THE USO, MRS. FIELDS® IS DONATING 25,000 COOKIES TO OUR HEROES IN UNIFORM.

So to honor Chuck, and other heroes like him be sure to go enter the #ShareYourHero Sweepstakes!  Once you complete your entry, fill out your address information and choose which new cookie flavor you want to try and they’ll send you a free sample. You’ll also receive a $1 off Mrs.Fields cookies coupon for next time you go to the grocery!

Ways to Get Healthier This Summer

If you’ve been procrastinating on building a healthier lifestyle, summer is definitely the time to get started. With the nice weather and the long days abound, you can take the time and spend the energy to build good habits that you will carry with you throughout the rest of the year.

Get Into Exercise

If you’re like most people, one of the areas of a healthy lifestyle that causes you the most trouble is making the time to exercise. Summer is a great time to start exercising because you can take advantage of the good weather to get out of the gym, especially if you find that the gym environment is not conducive to your exercise needs. Try out these exercise ideas this summer:

  • If you’re new to habitually being active, start slow with a simple walk around the neighborhood or a bike ride each day when you get home from work. You’ll get your Vitamin D for the day, and you’ll soon start to enjoy exercise that will encourage you to increase your overall activity levels.
  • Try out a new sport. If you don’t like going to the gym but still want to be more active, take advantage of the good weather to try out a new sport or outdoor activity like hiking or pick-up soccer. This is also a good time to visit your local swimming pool. Swimming is low-impact on your joints and will feel more like a fun hobby than a strenuous exercise. You never know what activity you’ll end up loving.
  • Increase your activity levels throughout the day. Take the stairs, bike to work, or practice exercises you can do at your desk. A fun and quick way to get into shape is by using a jump rope. It may sound silly, but just spending five minutes a day jump roping can make a huge difference.
  • If you find that you have a hard time making yourself exercise, come up with a rewards system. For example, every time you exercise, put a dollar in a jar and at the end of the month or at the end of a few months, give yourself the option to spend the money.

Improve Your Diet

The summer brings with it lots of delicious fruits and vegetables that are grown in your region. Take advantage of the season to improve your eating habits:

  • There are more farmers’ markets active during the summer, so take the time to support this local, sustainable industry by shopping away from the grocery store. Depending on where you live, there is usually a plethora of fresh fruits and vegetables for sale at low prices. Farmers’ markets tend to also have many samples of locally made foods and products, so walking around in the sunshine while supporting your local agriculture industry is a great way to spend your day.
  • Lighten up your diet by shifting away from heavy starches, grains, and red meat in favor of seasonal options. Excellent and delicious foods to eat during the summer include watermelon, spinach, lettuce, berries, mangos, corn, cantaloupe, tomatoes, and many more. Most in-season produce is lighter than winter produce, so if you stick to these items, you’re more likely to lose a little bit of weight while you’re at it. At the same time, most of these food items come with excellent nutritive benefits, so eat your fill! For proteins, stick to lighter options like fish (remember to shop local, sustainable options), tofu, and grilled chicken. Don’t be afraid to drop a lot of the protein from your diet. Most people only need a protein serving about the size of a deck of cards in a day, so there’s no need to overdo it – unless, of course, you’re working out quite a bit.
  • Increase your water intake. If you’re like most people, you probably don’t drink enough water during the day. Drinking more water can help encourage weight loss, curb your cravings, and increase your energy levels and sense of well-being. Get yourself a refillable water bottle and have a little competition with yourself each day. Set daily goals of how many ounces you want to drink. Your water bottle should have measurements on it so you can keep up. You can also make healthy, flavored water. For example, adding cucumber, lemon, ginger, and mint will give you delicious and detoxifying “spa water”.

Cut the Bad Habits

As you start to make these great changes to your habits, you’ll probably find that other changes start to come naturally. This is a very normal experience. Once you start to improve your health a bit, it’s a self-perpetuating cycle – one good decision leads to another good decision. The better you start to feel, the better you will want to keep feeling. So once you’ve made some of these other adjustments, start working on these harder-to-break habits:

  • Decrease your drinking. Not only is drinking hard on your body, it can also cause you to gain weight, especially if you are drinking heavy drinks like beer or sugary mixed drinks. If you’re most interested in cutting calories, try switching to stronger drinks that allow you to drink less overall. If you feel like you need to decrease your total alcohol intake but you have trouble in social situations, start by alternating between alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks over the course of the night. This will help you feel involved in the activity without feeling like you need to constantly drink.
  • Cut back on your smoking. Quitting cold turkey is extremely difficult so try to find support groups and start slowly. If you have not done so already, consider switching to vaping. Vaping does less damage to your lungs than traditional cigarettes and it can help you save money. Try ordering vape pens online to save even more.
  • Improve your sleep cycle. You may be surprised to discover how much better you feel when you improve your sleep quality. Make sure you are avoiding screens for at least an hour before bed and make sure you are getting to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time every morning.
  • Cut yourself a break. Allow yourself some space for your mental health. Each day, make some time to do something good for yourself like read a book or do your local newspaper’s crossword puzzle.

Once you’ve started on the road to improving your lifestyle, the rest will come naturally. Make this summer an opportunity to do something positive for yourself and get started on making changes towards a better lifestyle permanently. Your mind and body will thank you later!

Affordable Make-Up Perfect for Summer

With Summer upon us, I don’t know about you guys, but I like to change up the makeup products that I wear! Go a bit lighter on my makeup, so I don’t sweat it all off! Summer can get very hot, and the feeling of wearing a heavy makeup face can be a bit disturbing! Not to mention you’ll be swimming, hanging out at the beach, going to amusement parks, places you don’t need to be the most glamorous person around! So here are a few of my favorite products to use this Summer!
Summer Makeup
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream: In the summer season, I do not like to wear a very thick, full coverage foundation…But I do still like my fave to be all even, and looking nice as well! So this BB Cream is perfect for me, it’s a light-medium coverage and very refreshing! It is a 8 in 1 BB Perfecting Cream. The 8 things benefits it provides are: Blurs imperfections, Brightens, Evens skin tone, Smooths, Hydrates, Enhances complexion, Protects skin with SPF 30, and there are 0% oils and heavy ingredients.
POP Beauty trio in Naturally Bare (or Honey): I think this eyeshadow trio is PERFECT for summer! They are highly pigmented, great quality, and beautiful. Being that these are neutral colors, you could wear them for everyday wear in the Summer, for a day look as well as a night look. Something very simple, doesn’t need to be played up with a bunch of colors, smokiness, or glitter. A great product for everyday wear.
Physican’s Formula Blush Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in shade Rose: This blush from Physician’s Formula, not only is the product itself beautiful just by looking at it, it is also a gorgeous blush when applied. This warm pinky shade is perfect for the Summer months, it’s just the right blend of warmth and brightness that brightens up your face for a Summer look. This blush is also amazing because it does not have shimmer in it, but it does have almost like a sheen within it that provides your face with a beautiful glow.
Maybelline Waterproof Rocket Mascara: I think my personal favorite drugstore mascara, it provides a great amount of length and volume to the lashes. It’s also a bit on the cheaper end of the spectrum, being around $6-$7. Getting this mascara in the waterproof formula is perfect for Summer because it will stay all long, throughout your encounters in the pool, you won’t sweat it off completely, and you’ll be looking great all day!
Baby Lips Lip Glosses: If you haven’t already heard, Maybelline has just released a new edition to their Baby Lips line, instead of their original lip balm ideas, they released Lip Glosses!! They are amazing!! They are a really great formula. They are not a great moisturizing lip balm, which is great for Summer, the sun can be extremely drying on your lips! And not to mention, they are not sticky at all! It really is a great formula and i’m so excited to use them this Summer.
ELF Bronzing Palette: ELF has just released a few new palettes, one of them is the bronzing palette in Bronzed Beauty. This is a palette of four colors of different bronze, 3 matte shades and one with shimmer in it. This palette is truly amazing because it is great for simply warming up the face, contouring the face, or even using the shimmer shade to make a nice warm glow on the face. Also, it’s great that there are a few different shades because you may get tanner throughout the Summer, and then you already have that darker shade that you need!
Well, these are a few of my favorite products to be using this Summer! They will all keep you looking great this Summer season! I hope you all enjoy!

Taking a Road Trip? Don’t forget these 3 Tire Safety Tips

This post brought to you by Sam’s Club . The content and opinions expressed below are that of All in a Day’s Work.

Before you load up the van with the kids, luggage, snacks, cooler and everything but the kitchen sink you need to make sure your vehicle is road trip worthy. Besides the standard oil & coolant check and making sure you have a full tank of gas, you need to take a closer look at your wheels. Tires don’t only affect road handling, but also the ride, braking, and safety. For the best performance tires must have the correct air pressure, balance, tread depth, and alignment.

tire_safety

Air Pressure – not having the correct air pressure can lead to flat tires, tire wear, and even blowouts.Too much air can cause the tires middle section to contact the road, which creates wear in the center tread and less wear on the edge. Under inflation will do the opposite. Be sure to purchase a trusted tire pressure gauge to avoid these problems.

Balance & Rotation – Making sure your tires are properly balanced helps minimize wear and extends the life of your tire. Making sure that your tires are balanced when purchasing new new tires is important, as well as whenever you notice a vibration. Tires typically should be rotated every 6 months or 6-8,000 miles.

Wheel Alignment –   Wheel alignment is the position of the wheels compared to specifications that the manufacturers recommend. Each vehicle has specific alignment settings. If the alignment measurement falls outside of a specific range, vehicle handling & fuel economy will be affected, as well as additional wear and tear on the tires. You will know that your cars tires are aligned properly when the vehicle will drive down the road in a straight line without drifting or pulling to either side. Drifting or pulling can cause more problems  than just alignment . It’s a good idea to have a professional take a look to avoid any further damages.
