OK Mom’s and wives you have to admit – we are lucky to get a shower once a day (seriously lucky!) let alone another  after a hard day of work, chasing kids, doing laundry, working out  and all the other 385 things we do in a day.  Trying to feel sexy after a long day of diapers and dirt seems impossible. How many times have you rushed to take a shower so you can spend some intimate time with your spouse to come to bed with them snoring and slobbering all over your pillow? (Yes honey, I’m talking about you). Well I have found -insert angels singing here – a solution. Quick and easy Playtex’s Fresh+Sexy wipes make it convenient and quick to feel fresh and sexy in a moment’s notice.

Child Passenger Safety Week: Are Your Kids Safe?

This is a sponsored post, though I was compensated for my time, all opinions are my own.

#Safety #kids #carseats #boosterseats

As parent’s we do everything we can to assure that our children are safe – we put up safety gates, we child safety lock the cabinets, the frig, we bolt down the T.V, we put in an alarm system, we buy the best car seats and booster seats money can buy. But do we put that much thought into the installation of the car seats? We move car seats from one car to another; take them out to put packages in, and then put them back in again. Just because it’s buckled doesn’t mean it’s in properly.

Car Crashes are the leading cause of death for children 1 to 13 years old

More than 3,660 children were killed in car crashes during a 5-year period. (2007-2011)

In 2011, over one third of children killed in car crashes were not in car seats or wearing seat belts.

In 2011, an estimated 314 lives were saved by car restraints among children 4 and younger.

Car seats reduce the risk of fatal injury in cars by 71 percent for infants and 54 percent for toddlers. In SUV’s, pickups and bans, they reduce the risk by 58 percent for infants and 59 percent for toddlers.

Scary isn’t it? The best way to protect your children is to be an informed parent.

Please take initiative! Visit Safercar.gov to learn tips on car seat safety, watch how-to videos and sign up for car seat recall notifications!

A goal of National Seat Check Saturday is to teach parents how to correctly install and use car seats, and ensure children are in the right seats for their ages and size. To locate a Certified Child Passenger Safety technician in your area, go to safercar.gov/therightseat or download the free SaferCar app from the iTunes App Store.

My daughter was only 3 months old when we were involved in our first auto accident – I was so grateful that we took the time to get the seat installed by a Certified technician at the local fire station and that it kept my baby safe. After the accident we disposed of the car seat to ensure a continued high level of crash protection for my daughter. You can read more about the recommendations for replacing car seats after a crash  here.

Better safe then sorry – learn the proper seat and installation for your child!

#6SecondsFlat with Wendy’s Flatbread Sandwiches

This is a sponsored post, though I was compensated for my time, all opinions are my own.

O.K. I have to admit – though most days I pack 4 lunches (the 3 kids, and myself) sometimes in a rush, I don’t pack mine or even worse – forget it sitting on the counter as we rush out the door. So I’ve done my research with the fast food joints around my office to see what my best option is for a quick, healthy lunch.
Thankfully I have a Wendy’s right down the street – and thankfully Wendy’s has the new flatbread chicken sandwiches. They definitely don’t taste like fast food, and they are  a filling sandwich for lunch.

Not only does Wendy’s have some great healthy sandwiches (Wendy’s Flatbread Chicken Sandwiches are back for a limited time. Try both flavors, Asiago Ranch -it has bacon on it -and Smoky Honey Mustard :  only 370 calories!!)., but they are also sponsoring an awesome sweepstakes.

With just a 6 second video, you could win $6,000 in Wendy’s #6SecondsFlat Flatbread Sweepstakes.

Tell Wendy’s what you think about their flatbreads in a Vine or Instagram video then send it @Wendys (through twitter, Instagram or Vine) with the #6SecondsFlat tag and the custom hashtag #Allinadayswork6.

Each week of September, one lucky winner will be randomly selected to receive a $6000 prize.

Check out my video below for a little inspiration, then go upload a video of your own for a chance to win!

Taking a Tech Timeout this School Year

This is a sponsored post. Though I was compensated for the post, all opinions are my own.

As many of you know, these past few months  my kid’s had a Tech Free Summer. It was great to see them flourish and be social in person – not over Facebook or Twitter. Though I did allow a few precious hours of iPod time on our 16 plus hour drive to Florida for family vacation, we stayed tech free.  It reminded me of my childhood – riding bikes, hiking , walking the neighborhood with friends, all the great stuff I grew up with. It was a great time ,but short lived.
“Mom, I need to do some research online.” That was the first thing my oldest said to me when she walked in the door after her first official day back to school. “Homework already?” I asked her, and of course she babbled on about a project that was going to be due the next week and yada, yada, yada.. I kinda was lost in my own thoughts by then. The moment I had been dreading all summer was back, the actual need to be on the computer. Which would turn into the want to start obsessing over all the things that we managed to live without this summer. Sigh.

Then I heard about Techtimeout.com

WHAT IS TECH TIMEOUT?

The Tech TimeoutTM challenge started by ForestersTM encourages families to take a daily break from technology. Participating families are encouraged to disconnect from all things electronic with the goal of helping spouses, parents and children build stronger bonds, communicate more personally and get more involved in each other’s lives.

I realized that just maybe, I didn’t have to be extreme with the technology. Maybe it would work to set a ‘tech time out’ each day, as a rule, and there would be no exceptions. We would compromise, and take an hour each evening  where all tech items were turned off : the T.V., the computers, the iPods, the iPad, the Kindle, all of it would be BANNED for that one hour each evening.

The kids weren’t thrilled, but they got used to it. In fact, they started to (GASP) have fun!

We were quite ambitious the first evening, and we decided to go fishing. It was beautiful weather and it felt great to be out in the sun, instead of stuck inside on the computer!

Playing outside as a family is also a great idea during a tech time out – and also a great way to get some exercise!

playing outside

And of course -when the rain won’t stop and you can’t go outside – a good old fashioned board game is always a lot of fun! (this game is Fibber – the kids LOVE it!)

Not sure what to do with your Tech free hour? Try some of these great ideas! Or ask your kids – you’d be surprised how creative their imagination can be once they are away from the T.V. or computer!

What is your favorite “tech time out” activity??
