Always Wanted to Try It? Find Out The Good, the Bad, and the Wonderful Info about The Flex Belt

I received product  for review purposes only. All opinions, as usual, are my own..

If you are like me, you’ve seen and read about the Flex Belt  and wondered if it was too good to be true like other get-fit-quick schemes across the internet. I mean, anything that promises such awesome results in 6-8 weeks without a single sit up has to be too good to be true right? Even so, I was intrigued with the design, and the money-back guarantee. If a company is willing to give you your money back, there must be some truth to the product right? So when I was approached by Flex Belt to review one for my readers, I couldn’t wait to jump at the chance.

As I researched more about The Flex Belt I learned a lot. The Flex Belt is not just a lazy chicks guide to a toned stomach, but a scientific technology called Electronic Muscle Stimulation (EMS). It’s so simple, I’m almost embarrassed that I never thought of it. Signals are sent through gel pads to the body’s nervous system in a particular area (your abs) and the signals cause your muscles to contract and relax. The local nerves branch out and the signal has a more extensive reach and can work more muscles than even where the gel pads themselves are touching. In essence, it works more muscles than an extensive amount of sit ups would!

I’ve read a lot of great reviews about The Flex Belt, but I know a of my friends & family wanted to know what my results and thought were, so here you go:

* It’s a lot easier to use than I thought it would be – I don’t like anything that is too complicated or takes to long to put on (who has time for that, right??!) Once I read the  directions it was easy to get on and get started, it took no time at all to get set up

It works a lot better, of course, when you are watching what you eat, and getting other types of exercise. This is not a weight loss supplement but more of a toning and muscle work out, like lifting weights at the gym. It works your core vs helping you lose fat

Take it from me – take it slow when you first start. It’s almost like jumping into a full-time gym routine when you haven’t worked out in forever. I experienced some soreness, so work your way into it just like you would with any other core strengthening exercise/routine. Since my muscles were a bit sore, I was more careful about what I was eating (or more consciences) which was a plus as well!

*After about 6 weeks I did notice a difference – my fat seemed less jiggly (how’s that for a technical term?) and my core felt stronger. My husband noticed as well, so ladies, we know that’s always a good thing! It definitely helped boost my confidence and keep my motivation up for my cardio workouts

*The Flex Belt is definitely worth a try – though some may cringe at the hefty price tag, This would be a great Christmas gift, make sure to add this to your Pinterest Boards as a hint for your hubby or boyfriend!

#BigHero6 Will Knock Your Socks Off – Go See it NOW!

Earlier this week my family had the opportunity to preview Big Hero 6 before it came out in theaters. My 6 year old son, of course, was the most excited and couldn’t wait! (He kept asking and asking if it was the ‘day’ yet!)

I have to admit – I don’t think I’ve ever been completely disappointed with a Disney movie.
There maybe have been times when I wasn’t overly impressed; but I don’t think there has ever been a Disney movie that I wouldn’t watch twice. Big Hero 6 is definitely no exception! We could watch it over and over again!

big_hero_6

Big Hero 6, is an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax, a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada. When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago,  Neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6″

I will try not to give too much away – but Big Hero 6 is definitely going to be the hit of the holiday season. Baymax helps Hiro learn valuable life lessons (what Disney movie doesn’t?) Hiro’s big brother, Tadashi, is killed in a fire while trying to rescue his professor from a fire at the university he attended.
Hiro accidentally discovers that the fire his brother died in was not an accident, and he it  determined to seek revenge. His friends – who makes up Big Hero 6 – help Hiro in finding out the truth about his brothers death, and who was responsible.

The movie will have you laughing, crying, and smiling in the mere 105 minutes that you are in the theater.  This is a movie appropriate for all ages – young and old. Definitely a family movie night that I would recommend!

Here’s some FUN FACTS about Big Hero 6 – in theaters now!!!

CHARACTERS

SLAM DUNK – Baymax is 6 feet tall and 75 pounds—until Hiro mechs him out. Baymax, in his super suit, is more than 7 feet tall and can lift 1000 pounds. “He’s all air,” says head of animation Zach Parrish.

GO AHEAD – Artists looked at actors like John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Gary Cooper and other cowboys to study cool, emotionally reserved traits while developing GoGo Tomago’s look and personality.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BLINK – Baymax sports a standard nine-frame-blink, says head of animation Zach Parrish. “We play with the speed of his blink throughout the film, but for the most part, it’s a standard blink. It’s the amount of time we give the audience to think before he blinks that says a lot—the longer it is, the more time he’s processing. A double blink shows confusion. We used that a few times in the film. That could be an acting choice for a human character, too.”

NEED FOR SPEED – Artists looked at speed skaters to inform the body type and movement for GoGo Tomago, a passionate student of speed.

DUUUUUUDE – Artists studied snowboarders, skateboarders and surfers to develop movement and posture for Fred.

CHILL OUT – Wasabi, at one time, was a very Zen character with very Zen dreadlocks. When filmmakers tweaked his personality, they initially decided the neatnik wouldn’t be a fan of the not-oft-shampooed-do and gave him a haircut. The look didn’t last. It turns out, everyone was just too attached to his cool locks.

LOOSE TOOTH – To ensure Hiro’s charming gap-toothed grin stayed intact from any angle, controls were added to his teeth so animators could make adjustments as needed.

TALENT

ROBOT LOVE – Ryan Potter, who voices Hiro in “Big Hero 6,” was obsessed with building robots as a kid. “I was 9 or 10 when I got a robotics kit,” he says. “I absolutely love science.”

MORE ROBOT LOVE – Genesis Rodriguez, who lends her voice to Honey Lemon in “Big Hero 6,” was on her school’s robotics team. “I was a welder,” she says. “So I made sure my weldings were just perfect and very aesthetically pleasing as well. People didn’t expect us to be so good. That was the beauty of it. We were just this bright group of girls who had an idea, executed it and beat the guys.”

SMART GUY — James Cromwell, who lends his voice to Professor Robert Callaghan, studied at Carnegie Mellon University (then called Carnegie Tech). “Big Hero 6” filmmakers spent time at the school, learning all about the innovative field of soft robotics, which ultimately inspired Baymax, a huggable vinyl robot that takes care of people.

FULL CIRCLE – As a child, Damon Wayans Jr., who provides the voice of Wasabi, wanted to be an animator when he grew up. He even studied animation after graduating high school before he decided to pursue acting.

FILMMAKING

LET IT GROW – The “Big Hero 6” animation team topped 100 members (103, to be exact). That’s about 15 more animators than 2013’s feature film “Frozen.”

MARTIAL ARTISTS – Filmmakers selected karate to broaden Baymax’s skillset—but animators had to adjust some of the movements to work for the voluminous character’s build. A few members of the team visited a nearby martial arts studio to get a feel for the practice. Pros were asked to attempt some of the moves while on their knees to simulate Baymax’s signature proportions.

I CAN FLY – Filmmakers consulted with flight specialist Jason McKinley, who worked on both “Disney’s Planes” and “Planes: Fire & Rescue,” to choreograph and execute the flight sequences with Baymax and Hiro.

670’S A CROWD – Walt Disney Animation Studios’ proprietary system Denizen allowed filmmakers to create bigger, more believable crowds for “Big Hero 6.” created around 670 unique characters, compared to 270 in “Frozen,” 185 in “Wreck-It Ralph” and 80 in “Tangled.”

  • Each of the 670 characters has up to 32 different clothing look combinations, plus 32 different hair and skin tones. That means, filmmakers could invite 686,080 unique characters to the San Fransokyo party before there were any exact repeats.
  • Denizen was made available to everyone at Walt Disney Animation Studios and employees were encouraged to model themselves in the system to join the crowd. More than 200 characters were created, and employees will see themselves up on the big screen—walking among the “Big Hero 6.”

COUNT ON IT — The “Port of San Fransokyo” scene has over 6000 people in it.

  • 23 districts were built in 3D.
  • 83,149 lots of the 150,000 in all of San Francisco were built.
  • 8 million building parts.
  • 215,000 streetlights.
  • 260,000 trees.

Simple Ways to Transform Your Garden into a Winter Wonderland

We realize that you’ve only just taken down the Halloween decorations, and we hate to be the ones to break it to you, but Christmas is just around the corner. Soon we’ll be donning our gay apparel and building snowmen in the backyard. Whilst the holiday season is a time for fun, family and good will, if you’re a busy working mom, that good will can sometimes feel as if it’s in short supply.

Well, this blog post is here to help take you back to a time when Christmas was actually fun. When we’re children, the holiday season is the most magical time of year. Then as we get older, we have more to think about and more to organize. So for many people, the magic just kind of disappears. Well, we think that it’s time to put the magic back into Christmas. So we’re going to help set free your inner child, by showing you how to transform your backyard into your own private winter wonderland.

Get Stuck In

The old expression ‘many hands make light work’ is especially applicable here. If you have children, get them involved. Start by giving the backyard a quick clear up. Remove any weeds and anything that isn’t going to fit in with your holiday theme. If there’s any repair work that needs doing, this is as good a time as any to get it done. Get in touch with a specialist company such as Patio Living to replace any rotten decking and cracked patio areas. But once the garden is tidy and in good condition, then the real fun can start!

Take their Lead

What better way is there to recapture some of that childhood Christmas spirit, than by taking the lead of your own children? If you have very young children, then you can take care of all the fiddly work. But when it comes to the actual decorating part, let the children lead you. Start by making your own snowflakes out of biodegradable paper. Use a thick sewing needle to pierce a hole at the top of each one, as this will enable you to hang them from the trees and plants in your backyard. You could also put candles into painted jars and hang them from fence posts, to reflect a magical glow all around the garden.

Next, no winter wonderland would be complete without some outdoor fairy lights, so arrange these either along the back of the house or drape them over a tree in the yard. Finish off your winter wonderland with some fake snow to really give it that ‘Christmassy’ feel.

Family Time

Our tips are very simple, and the decorating can be completed in less than 24 hours. The key thing is to let go, get creative, and most importantly have fun with your family. Because after all isn’t family what Christmas is all about?

If you struggle to feel ‘Christmassy’ this year, don’t despair. Just follow our tips, and before you know it, you’ll be full of Christmas cheer in less time than it takes you to hang up your stocking. All that’s left for us to say is “Merry Christmas!”

A Guide to Black Friday Shopping

I don’t mean to brag, but I’m kinda a pro at this whole Black Friday thing. I’ve been doing Black Friday shopping since I can remember. Before stores were open on Thanksgiving, or at midnight my Mom, sister and I would line up outside of Elder Beerman department store at 4 a.m., bundled up trying to keep warm (or stay awake) waiting for the doors to open. Every year they would give you a $10 off a $25 purchase on any item (well except doorbusters) and we would rush in with the rest of the mob, grab our certificate and make our way to one of the other entrances to try and nab more (this is just the way we did things – everyone did. Don’t judge!)

We would spend time there, and make our way to other stops like Meijer, K-mart, Sears (this was even before Walmart was around) and then to the mall. We’d go get breakfast, shop some more, than lunch. By the time I got home I was exhausted but this was more than a shopping trip – it was a family tradition.

One Black Friday about 13 years ago we came home to empty the trunk (yes, we bought that much) to find out that my Grandpa had passed. I was pregnant with my oldest, and I remember the pure shock standing in the kitchen watching my Dad’s lip quiver as he told us. Black Friday took on more of a meaning that year – and has every year since. It’s not about getting the last T.V. or video game off the shelf, or feeling like we got a steal from the store – but it  became a therapeutic tradition for my family to still spend that day together.

I am not a big fan of these stores opening on Thanksgiving – heck, I’m not even a fan of them opening at midnight. I’ve worked retail and it was bad enough working nights and weekends, let alone holidays.  We don’t shop on Thanksgiving, period. But once that clock strikes midnight my Mom, sister and I meet up at my Mom’s house to spend some time together and keep the tradition going. We’ve come up with some tips to make this Black Friday an (successful) tradition you can share with your loved ones and friends.

a_guide_to_black_friday_shopping

1. By far the most important tip of them all – make it about memories, not money. To be honest you could probably get the deals that they are advertising at some other point in the year. You could also get these deals online, from the comfort of your own home. Heck, even in the warmth of your own comfy cozy bed in your pj’s with a cup of coffee and a laptop. But you won’t get to see your Mom trip out of the car from pure exhaustion, and almost pee yourself from laughing because you are all so slap happy from not getting any sleep. Those are the times that you will remember – not the T.V. you got for $100.

2. Don’t snatch a game out of another shoppers hand (yes, this happened to me). Luckily it wasn’t something any of my kids just had to have or I would of been really upset. And maybe even years ago that would of been worth a fight, but I laugh about it now. No video game, movie, toy, or electronic is worth getting into a squab. Show some courtesy to your fellow shoppers – it’s really quite simple. Don’t push and shove to get in a store, don’t snatch stuff out of peoples hands, don’t cut in line, don’t curse at someone or run them over with a cart (or a car for that matter). We have all gotten wayy out of hand, and this is honesty why I haven’t started my girls’ in on this tradition quite yet. People being trampled to death because someone was in a hurry to get into Walmart is not my ideal way to leave this world.  So just be NICE.

3. There are some pretty cool apps that will help you find the best deals on what you are looking for. Visit the Play or App Store and search “Black Friday” – there are quite a few that will give you what you want. I am a big fan of Slickdeals.net that I was actually introduced to by a couple of ladies while we were waiting in line at Walmart on Black Friday quite a few years ago. They were shocked we never heard of it, and now I can see why! They have deals ALL YEAR LONG and they post the best deals n’ steals you can find online or in store. I have gotten a ton of things from them throughout the year, and they even post sweepstakes, and also coupon codes and such.  Another good source for coupons is Coupon Sherpa, where you can find Kohl’s coupon codes and promo codes to Kohl’s.  You can also keep an eye out for deals posted by deal bloggers – I’ve scored a few times by following them as well. You can also keep an eye out for deals posted by deal bloggers – I’ve scored a few times by following them as well.

4. Budget – I cannot say this enough. I don’t care HOW GOOD OF A DEAL IT IS, if you can’t pay cash for it, or pay off your credit cards in the same month. IT’S NOT A GOOD DEAL. I can say this from experience as well. I foolishly would borrow money to shop for Christmas and pay it back at tax time – once I looked at the interest & fees, I might as well of paid full price!! Which brings me to number five

5. Make a LIST and check it TWICE – Make a list of who you are shopping for, and what you want to get them. Yes, you may change your mind about what to get your co-worker, or niece, but having a notebook (or at least a note in your phone) and checking them off as you finish their shopping will keep you from over spending. When I buy for my kids I like to give them an even amount of gifts, and spend an even amount of money. If I don’t keep track, things get out of hand fast. One year I started to wrap presents and realized that my oldest was screwed – so I started shopping for her, and low and behold, I over shopped. So what did I do?? I got a few more for the other 2.., and so the cycle continued until I blew my budget. Don’t get stuck in that rut! Make a list!!

6. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD do not OVERPAY for an item. We see it every year – some big toy hits the shelves and they are sold out, and may not get another shipment until after Christmas. So we hit up eBay and pay double, sometimes triple or more for a gift that our kids just had to have. Sorry to break it to ya’ sister, but that Tickle Me Elmo you paid $200 bucks for a few years ago? Yeah I saw it in your garage sale for $1. DO NOT GET SUCKED IN!! Wait and get it for their birthday when there are thousands in stock in the stores and online. Most likely they won’t even realize they missed that ‘one gift they just had to have’ because they are too  busy playing with the gazillion other toys that you, and the rest of the family got them. Plus, it’s never good to spoil them with everything they want right when they want it (so I hear – I’m working on that one myself).

7. Take Time to Laugh – seriously the past few years I can’t tell you how much I have looked forward to this day. Even though I am extremely exhausted (and most Friday’s I still have to go in and work in the afternoon) and sometimes even grumpy by the end of the day, we always have so much fun. Last year we got a glimpse of what it might be like if our poor timid Mother would be as a drunk (let’s just say it was amusing) and some of the conversations you will hear standing in line will crack you up! The silliness and laughter is way more valuable to me than anything in that shopping cart. Enjoy your life! Stop stressing about the presents and shopping and just enjoy your family – you never know when it may be your last!! Put away the phone, the MUST HAVE list, and spend time with your loved ones and friends and realize how much you really do have to be thankful for.
