I have always been a bit of a traditions girl; get up early on Thanksgiving to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (totally on my bucket list to see it on person though), the smell of my Nana’s dressing baking, my Mom rushing around trying to make sure everything is ready before everyone arrives. Sitting down for dinner and going each of us sharing what we are thankful for, then all the ladies scrounging the Black Friday ads for our shopping plan of action the next day. Now that I’m a Mom myself, I want to make sure that my kids have plenty of holiday traditions that warm their heart, and that they talk about with excitement. One of those traditions is attending the Macy’s tree lightening this holiday season at Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati.
The Macy’s Light Show Cincinnati celebrates 11 years of Santa and his elves rappelling down the side of the Vine Street Building to Macy’s rooftop to kick off the spectacular fireworks show!
Not only do you get to see this amazing light show, but this entirely free event also offers performances from local choirs, new lighting effects and a few more surprises! After the show visit the family fun area inside Macy’s Fountain place (from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.)
The family fun area offers a free evening full of holiday activities for your family. From a craft table where you can make your own holiday ornaments, and color, to balloon twisting and more!
