My Top Vacation Packing Tips

Taking a break from your day to day life, and enjoying a vacation, is important. It gives you a chance to get away from it all and truly unwind. The only problem is the packing. Most people find the whole process quite stressful, which is why I thought I would share a few tips with you that will make packing for your next vacation easier.

Pack frugally

The last thing you need is to have to lug a huge suitcase around with you. Packing carefully will keep the weight down, which will save you from wasting a lot of money on luggage fees. You do not want to take things that you never actually wear.

It is far better to pack items of clothing that you can easily mix and match. Both midi and maxi skirts are great items to take with you. These skirts can potentially be worn more than once. They are great for sightseeing, wearing over your swimsuit at lunchtime so you can enjoy a nice meal in a restaurant and for meals out.

Ideally, you should be able to wear each item as part of at least two outfits. That way you will have plenty of choices, and be ready for any activity you fancy taking part in.

Make a packing list

Making a packing list will help you to ensure that you do not forget anything important. You can easy to download one and edit it to better suit your needs. Think about the activities you would like to enjoy while you are away and make a note of the clothes you will need for each activity.

Try on each outfit

Try each outfit on to make sure that they look good, and that everything fits. If you can, do this at least two weeks before you are due to travel.

Start the packing process early

That way if anything needs replacing you have enough time to go out and buy what you need. Taking this approach also means that you will not be left scrabbling around trying to get everything done at the last minute.

If you need visas and vaccinations make sure you get these sorted as early as possible. That way, if there is a postal strike you will not be left fretting and wondering if the documentation you need to travel will arrive on time.

Be ready for emergencies

Most people remember to pack important items like sun cream and toiletries but tend to forget items like sting cream. It is far better to have a few painkillers, stomach remedies, antiseptic cream and plasters with you than it is to rely on being able to buy them at the resort. In many parts of the world, chemists are shut at night and for most of the weekend.

Having some basic medications with you will save you a lot of discomfort, and, often, allow you to treat yourself. You can use this article to help you to put together a good vacation first aid kit.

Worried About Warranty? Why a Kia May Be Right for You

I had some friends who had the absolute worst luck with vehicles – you know, where if it’s not one thing, it’s another??

From new vehicles, to gently used, to junkers – it seemed like they couldn’t go a few months without having some sort of issue. Until they bought their first Kia.

In case you weren’t aware, Kia vehicles come with a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty.

The Kia 10-year/100,000 mile warranty program consists of:

  • 10-year/100,000 mile limited powertrain warranty.
  • 5-year/60,000 mile limited basic warranty.
  • 5-year/100,000 mile limited anti-perforation warranty.
  • 5-year/60,000 mile roadside assistance plan.

Each provides coverage until either the yearly or total mileage figure is reached, whichever comes first.

It has given them peace of mind and they’ve had less issues than any other vehicle they’ve ever owned, and they rave to all their friends and family about it. A Kia is definitely something my family is willing to consider the next vehicle to purchase – especially since they also Emergency Roadside Assistance – free of charge.

They have a network of over 17,000 roadside assistance providers – free of charge! That will help you out of any mishaps you may have – dead batteries, flats, running out of gas, etc.  If it’s a concern that can’t be fixed on the spot, they will tow you to the nearest Kia dealer at no cost!

and then of course needless to say, if you have an applicable warranty-related concern, your repairs may be covered under the Kia 10-year/100,000-mile warranty program!

Kia has multiple types of vehicles to chose from – even the Kia Sedona  – which has a third row seat!

Check out your local Kia dealership for more information!

Making the Most of your Jeep Wrangler

Before I owned a Jeep, I didn’t realize that once you purchased one, you were a member of this elusive club. The more you get into the Jeep Rallys, the vents, the customization, the more you realize that it’s a bond that you will have with other Jeep owners that you don’t get with other types of vehicles.

The first time I learned about this special Jeep club was when we were driving down the road in my husband’s newly purchased Jeep Wrangler. Across the highway another Jeep passed by and waved – and my husband waved back. I didn’t say anything until it happened again just a little while later, “Who was that, do you know them?” I asked. He laughed and said, “No, it’s the Jeep Wave.” The Urban Dictionary defines the Jeep Wave as ”

An honor bestowed upon those drivers with the superior intelligence, taste, class and discomfort tolerance (exception to 97 and newer Jeep owners) to own the ultimate vehicle – the Jeep. Generally consists of either a raised hand waving or 4 fingers extended upward from the steering wheel, but may be modified to suit circumstances and locally accepted etiquette.”

So yeah – there’s that. And like I mentioned before, the Jeep rallys, the different events all over the US (kind of like a biker rally) the off-roading clubs, etc. Owning a Jeep Wrangler isn’t just owning another vehicle – it’s an experience.

So to make the most of that experience, here’s a few things that I recommend to give you the full Jeep owner experience.

Lift Kit.
If you are unfamiliar a lift kit raises the body or suspension of a Wrangler. The lift increases the distance between the frame and the body – or the suspension between the axles and the frame (you’ll chose what kit based on the reason for installing it). If you plan to do off-roading, you’ll want to lift the Jeep to increase the ground clearance, suspension travel, and fit larger tires on your Jeep. Other people like to lift their Wranglers because it just makes it look better overall.

Winch.
Winches will help bail you out of some um, tough, situations if needed. If you plan to use your Wrangler for off-roading, I think a winch is a must have. It can also be nice to use if you live in an area that gets a lot of snow; we’ve used ours to tow people out of ditches and off un- plowed streets. Like I always say, “It’s better to have it, and not need it. Then to need it, and not have it.”

Bigger Tires.
Again, this all depends on how you plan to use your Wrangler. Some bigger tires do look better, especially if you lift your Jeep. If you plan on off-roading, bigger tires are another must-have. If you don’t plan to do a lot of off-roading and you drive on the interstate or at fast speeds often, just be careful of how big the tires are. Bigger tires and a lift tend to give more airflow under the vehicle, which can make it prone to flipping.

Grab Handles.
Grab bars are just an extra safety precaution that I would recommend for anyone going off-roading, or traveling without the top on. It helps a person maintain balance, and have something to hold on to in case of an emergency. (I have used our grab handles more than I’d like to admit).

There are tons of options when it comes to pimping out your Jeep Wrangler, but these are my top picks. There are never ending accessories and upgrades to be done, and if you are looking for a project vehicle to work on for – well the rest of your life – a purchasing a Jeep Wrangler will do it.

What’s Not to Love About the All New 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

About 10 years ago I bought my first “mom” car. I bought a Chrysler Pacifica crossover. It was perfect and exactly what I needed – enough sport to still feel young and ‘normal’ – and enough room for the kids and all their stuff without feeling like a soccer Mom (not that there is anything wrong with that!)

I wasn’t ready for a minivan at the time – I mean, who can jam out and speed down the interstate with their windows down in a van right? Anyway, I fell in love with my Pacifica. I drove it until it couldn’t drive anymore and I was quite upset when I found out they quit making them like they used to.

Then I saw this; the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica.

While still a minivan – and technically here to replace the Chrysler’s famous town & country, the all new Pacifica gives a sportier look and feel compared to its older counterpart.

If the room and view doesn’t sell you, some of the great features of this new minivan will, such as:
Stow n’ Go Seats
Roomy 3rd row seats
Surround-view camera*
Forward collision alert*
Duel-screen rear entertainment system*
Automated parallel parking*
Built-in vacuum*
UConnect Access*
USB input
Bluetooth
5″ Center touchscreen display
3 Zone climate control*
Heated mirrors*
6 speaker surround sound system
Electric parking break

It’s 287 hp V6 engine gives great fuel economy (around 31 mpg). They also offer a hybrid model that is said to go 30 miles before switching to gas!

The 2017 model even won the 2017 Best Minivan for the Money Award. So if you are looking into purchasing a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, this is a great choice! Be sure to check with your local dealership for specials and incentives!

*features based on model purchased; not all models contain all the above mentioned extra features.
