Math Problems Got You in a Crunch?

Growing up I got good grades – I excelled in subjects like English, History and anything to do with reading. But I struggled quite often with Math and Science, and I did just enough to make it through because I never quite got it. Now I have a thirteen year old who is following in my foot steps and when she brings home her Math homework, well it might as well be in Chinese; I have absolutely no idea how to help her. We’ve managed to make it through with some YouTube videos and help from her Papa, but that doesn’t solve the entire problem – she needs to really learn it, and solve it herself.

Though we’ve thought about hiring a tutor it never was feasible in our budget, nor could we find someone local. That’s why I am so excited about MathCrunch.

MatchCrunch

MathCrunch is an app that is a window into a world of smart, caring tutors who are passionate about Math and helping students understand and reach their full potential. They place an emphasis on the best tutoring methods to ensure every student receives the highest quality of tutoring – every time.  MathCrunch provides educational support 24/7 – so it’s not an issue, no matter what time of day or night they may need help.

Here’s how it works –

Download the MathCrunch app – you get 30 minutes FREE just for signing up!
(Download here for Apple and here for Android.)

Wait to be connected to your tutor (there’s a new wait-time indicator to let you know how long it will be before you’re connected. Which won’t be long!)

Get your learning on – talk individually with a tutor who will walk you through step-by-step to work the problem and address any issues you may be having.

MathCrunch2MathCrunch know that everyone learns differently – and true to their values, they would like their tutors to be able to work with students as if they were their own. So they created a ‘session history’ feature which allows each tutor to review the students previous sessions so the can tailor their teaching to fit the student’s unique strengths and weaknesses. (Don’t worry, the students also have access to their session history as well, so they can study their previous sessions).

One of my favorite parts? Students get to access their tutors after each session, to make sure that they continue to use the best teaching methods and practices and adhere to MathCrunch’s high standards. All tutor applicants are tested on their academic skills as well as communication via an exam and in-depth interviews. They are even shadowed for their first few sessions to ensure quality teaching.

If you have a student that is struggling, you need to download MathCrunch now and watch their grades (and attitude) towards Math flourish

I am horrible with math. Absolutely horrible. Luckily for me, neither of my boys inherited my bad math skills and totally rock it in math. Phew.

  2. I’m so glad to see something like this. The “new” math that everybody has switched to confuses me to no end, and I literally cannot help my kids with their math.

  3. Jeanine says:

I have never been good at math, ever. My oldest is so smart and is so good at math I have him help my younger kiddos as I sit and try to understand!

I am a former Special Ed teacher and I even hate ‘new math’, it’s great to find a tool that can make learning Math easier and fun!

If my hubby and I weren’t both huge math geeks I would totally want this for our kids one day. Now we are both terrible with foreign languages…. haha. Cool service!

Such a great resource. Math was my favorite and best subject as a kid, next to Literature/English when I got a bit older.
