Homework Help on the Go with Mentored

I would say that most of you that have been following me for awhile probably are well aware that reading and writing classes were my favorite when I was in school. I have no problems helping my kids learn to read, write an essay or report, or even with spelling. Now Math and Science on the other hand – not my forte. Once they hit, I don’t know 6th grade, I’m pretty much no use to them when it comes to those subjects. So with a daughter heading into middle school, and another into high school, you can imagine how helpless I feel when they come to me with homework questions pertaining to either of those subjects!

That’s why I was thrilled to discover the Mentored app. Mentored is a safe, easy and affordable way to access an expert in Math, Science, Literature and more.

Mentored is an app that will give you student (or yourself!) 1 on 1 support with homework – anytime, anywhere. Sessions are $5 and can last up to 20 minutes  – plenty of time to answer your questions with homework, a project, or just help you understand something you weren’t grasping in class.

It’s pretty simple – you sign up for an account via the app store, (or if you don’t have an iPhone, you can check it out on mentored.com). Then you pick the subject that you need mentored in – and they will connect you into a session with a ‘pro’.
My daughter is currently working on a very important Science Fair Project, and again, not quite the subject I’m well versed in. So she decided to connect with a Science Mentor on the app on her phone.

So she denied the microphone access, and decided to type out her questions.

She didn’t want to share her conversation with her Mentor (it is a competitive Science Fair after all). But he helped her answer a few questions, and gave some suggestions for her project.

Since then she’s used the Mentored app twice to help with Math homework, and one more time for an additional question on her Science fair project. She absolutely loves being able to get her homework done when and where she needs to, without having to wait to ask someone who knows – who might be at work, or busy.

If you or someone you know struggles in school and can’t afford a one-on-one tutoring session, be sure to pass on the information for Mentoredan affordable way to connect.

I don’t understand common core for the life of me, so I could really use some help for my kids when it comes to their math homework.

  2. This is such a great idea. Tutoring can make a big difference in a child’s education, and this is a way to make it much more convenient.

  3. This an amazing app for helping kids with homework. I’m with you on the math. I usually rely on my older kids to help with the harder math, but sometimes they aren’t home to help out. Thanks for sharing the Mentored App with us.

  4. Wow, it’s amazing what people come up with. There’s lots of time I wish I had a tutor on demand for my son’s homework – and that’s only 3rd grade core curriculum math!

This sounds super helpful. Sometimes there were homework questions my kids had that I just couldn’t answer!

  6. Sounds like a great way to get help for your kids homework when you just don’t know the answer! I could’ve used this sometimes.

My oldest started middle school this year and it has definitely been an adjustment. The Mentored app would make a great resource for those times when her teachers are unavailable.

  8. oh my gosh! yes!!! I sorta wish there was a daily price though because my daughter does need help on a daily basis. I try to help her but there are things I don’t remember especially with Common Core.

What a great resource. There are times Google lets us down, and we can’t find the answer to a question. Being able to ask an expert would be amazing.

This is a great idea. When I was a kid there was something called the homework help line that we could call. I like this modern version of it.

This is such a brilliant idea! My son gets tuck with math, so this would be great for him.

Thank you for all of these amazing comments. Please contact us at info@mentored.com so we can set up a convenient and affordable plan for your child. We are also starting an SAT bootcamp next year since the exam is changing and many students will be lost without help.
