My first ever real ‘job experience’ was volunteering as an American Red Cross candy striper at the local hospital where my Grandma worked. Originally I thought it would be great for my resume and college applications. Not to mention I looked cute in the navy blue skirt, white polo, and ‘striped’ apron! But the more and more I became involved in what the American Red Cross does for people – the more I realized that I really was making a difference.

In day to day life most of us don’t realize actually how important the volunteers and the donations to the ARC actually are. Those impacted my major disasters, which seem to be more and more prevalent these days have said they didn’t know what they would of done, or how they would of survived without the help of the Red Cross.
MasterLock agrees, so they are doing their part to help the cause, and you can help them: Starting January 19 through January 31, anyone who tweets a response to the question, “When in your life has safety and security been most top of mind?” with the hashtag #MasterLockProtects will generate a $1 donation to the American Red Cross and be eligible for sweepstakes prizes.
