  • If at all possible, avoid driving during periods of high traffic – such as early morning, lunch time and evening commute times
  • Make sure to always keep your windshield, mirrors and headlights clean
  • Make sure your seat is set up high enough to have a clear view of the road – if you are short, sit on a small pillow if you have to
  • Stay alert – watch and listen for emergency vehicles
  • At night be extra cautious, and keep at the speed limit. Two-thirds of accidents occur at night and speed is normally to blame
  • Limit your distractions – be mindful of being distracted by the radio, or conversations with others in the car, and even cell phones!
  • Make sure your windshield wipers are in proper working order and replace them when needed
  • Keep safe driving distances between you and the car in front of you – that way you have plenty of time to brake if you need to.
  • Be sure to not drive impaired; this includes medicines that you may take for something as simple as a cold, or allergies.
  • Don’t drive if you are feeling lightheaded, sick or stressed out.
  • Always wear your seat belt, and make sure your passengers do as well.
  • If you feel bad, are dizzy, or under the influence call an Uber or Lyft!
  • Be aware of bikes – bicycles and motorcycles! As a rider, I can tell you soo many people don’t pay attention
  • Be sure to set rear view and side mirrors to help eliminate blind spots
