Up until this weekend I was really in denial about my kids going back to school. Though I do somewhat like the structure of the school year like daily routines and early bedtimes, with working full-time and doing it on my own makes it a bit tough. Making sure that everyone is up and ready to get out the door to the bus on time – with everything they need- stresses me out!
One of our biggest time consuming things to get done in the morning in packing lunches. The first few weeks the kids don’t mind a basic sandwich and snack. But as the year goes on it gets harder and harder to keep their lunches interesting, tasty and healthy. They get bored with the same ol’ same ol’ – and who can blame them? I have a lot more options working in an office, and a lot more time, then my kids at school. So the kids and I headed to Walmart to pick-up some yummy stuff for their lunches.
My son is probably the pickiest and he isn’t the biggest sandwich fan. I always like to pack finger-foods, he’s more likely to eat it and most of the time we can re-pack what he doesn’t eat for the next day.
One of his favorites is our Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish Crackers trail mix. Goldfish crackers, granola, and some chocolate make it his favorite sweet treat. Paired with a cheese roll-up, some fruit (his favorites are grapes and blueberries) and some string cheese and he’s set. What I love is I can pack these in advance for the week and he can grab what he’s hungry for each day.
I even keep some for after-school snacks – that way he doesn’t snack too much and he’s still hungry at dinner time.
He isn’t a big fan of meat, however he will eat cut-up ham or turkey with his Goldfish crackers and grapes. Plenty of protein and healthy – I also love to add some yogurt every few days as well.
One of the items we never forget to put in his lunchbox is Wet Ones® antibacterial hand wipes. I learned a few years ago that the kids aren’t always given a chance to wash their hands before lunch – and do you know how many germs their hands come in contact with throughout the morning at school? Let’s just say eww. So I buy the Wet Ones travel packs or Wet Ones singles, to make sure that they always have clean hands before they start eating.
Speaking of Wet Ones, don’t forget to go enter for your chance to win a years supply of Wet Ones® for your home and your child’s classroom, plus $1000 cash! www.wishihadwetones.com
I love the idea of adding little wet wipes so your kids can have clean hands when they eat lunch. I didn’t know that kids nowadays didn’t get a chance to wash their hands before lunch.
It’s always a good idea to keep Wet Ones in the old lunchbox. They’re great for on the go hand cleaning.
I definitely like using Wet Ones wipes for lunches. Those singles make cleaning up so much easier.
My son is big on making sure his hands are clean after eating. Neat idea to tuck Wet Ones in his lunchbox!
Great lunch ideas! I like the little snack mix!
Wet ones come in so handy. Real smart for lunchbox.
I pack my son’s lunch daily. I always have trouble with the crackers getting soft when in the same container as the meats, cheese, and fruit. I like the idea for the wet ones.
We love packing the singles in lunches. That giveaway sounds great!
I carry wet ones with me everywhere I go. They are a diaper bag essential.
Kids are messy! It makes so much sense to pack them away to clean up before they head off to play. No one wants a peanut butter & jelly-covered basketball!
I don’t know why I never thought to send wet ones with my kiddos and their lunches. Such a great idea!
I’ve been sending peaches to school in my kids lunches. Though I send a napkin to Wet Ones would be a great addition!
Including the wet ones in the lunchboxes is such a great idea. What a great way to keep them clean.
I always add Wet Ones to the kids lunches, They are a convenient way to keep hands clean. I keep a few in my car for emergencies.
Schools are so germy, keeping Wet Ones in the lunchbox is a great idea! And my girls love to get Goldfish in their boxes too!
I love the idea of keeping Wet Ones in the lunch box. Be great in the backpack too. We have a bit more time before the kids go back to school. I was really stressed, but I think we have a routine all talked about now.
I do not even have children and always carry wet naps and hand sanitizer on me just in case. As a commuter on public transportation in NYC I use them as soon as I get out the subway! LOL 🙂

My kids are back in school and I don’t like it one bit. I do, however, also like you, appreciate the structure it brings. 🙂
I’m going to be looking for these wet ones. They’ll be great in my purse and in my desk at work.
definitely gotta keep those hands sanitized before eating! Wet ones are a great brand to use!
