Top Five Tips for a Successful Kitchen Remodel

One of the great things about being a homeowner is the fun and excitement of being able to make the house yours. We are talking far beyond just decor, but the moment when you get to remodel a room that you’ve spent years dreaming about. At least that’s how I felt when we moved into our home and I started my plans for our kitchen remodel. My husband is quite a handy person, so we thought that we could do a lot of work on our own and just bang out the project quickly. Boy was I wrong!

We assumed we could knock this project out over a long weekend – since we didn’t have to move or deal with any electrical projects, we figured we were on the highway to a new kitchen in 3 days or less. What started as a 3 day project turned into a 30 day project – and me doing dishes in our bathtub.  No matter how handy you are, or what a great jack-of-all-trades that your husband is, when you are working on a big project something is bound to go wrong.

In honor of great remodel wreckers everywhere, Cliqstudios.com has provided us with the Top Five Tips for a Successful Kitchen Remodel, as well as the Top Three Traps to Avoid. I was super impressed with the Florida beach kitchen remodel they assisted their client with. I was able to get a sneak peek at her new cabinetry and I can say I was super impressed. Cliqstudios.com really delivered!

  • Great tips. Lucky for me, when we moved into our home, the people who owned it before us bought it just to fix it up and flip it, so everything was newly done when we got it.

  • You've really got to plan ahead on any remodel. If you don't, you'll end up with a major headache. This best tip on here is getting the proper permits. They'll shut you down fast if you don't have those.

  • Excellent tips. We're due for a kitchen remodel and even though the space is small, I'm afraid it's going to take forever and cost a fortune.

  • I can't wait until we get a new home and I can decorate the kitchen how I want it.

  • Planning your budget is so important. There's nothing like getting halfway through a project and running out of money for it.

  • These are great tips. You've got to be so careful when you remodel. Townships have so many permit requirements now, and they'll shut you down in a snap if you don't follow them all.

  • I forsee a kitchen remodel in our future in the next 5 years. We have things that are in worse shape but the kitchen will come eventually.

  • We re-did our kitchen last year at this time. It took 3 weeks longer than expected, which wreaked havoc on our budget since we had to continually eat out or get take out!
