Food Truck Friday is Back at Kings Island

So a few weeks ago I told you how excited we were about the new roller coaster at Kings Island Mystic Timbers (which by the way, may be my new favorite) but Kings Island has more to offer this year than just adrenaline pumping adventure -and adventure for your mouth, with an assortment of cuisines.

Every Friday in May King’s Island is hosting a Food Truck Friday with more than 5 food trucks to choose from to tickle your palate. From BBQ to sushi , everyone is bound to find something they love – and maybe leave with a new favorite ‘mobile’ restaurant.

Unfortunately this past Friday the ‘flood’ was still in progress and King’s Island was as bare as I’ve ever seen it (maybe not ideal weather, but hey if you ever want to ride EVERY SINGLE RIDE IN THE PARK IN ONE DAY – this is the kinda’ day to go. Just bring rain gear!)
Due to the rain, there were only 3 trucks in the park, and one wasn’t open when we got there (I can’t blame them, not many people were going for Italian ice in 40 degree weather – but I can imagine that line would be around the eiffel tower in the summer!)

The first truck we visited was Sweets & Meats BBQ and let me tell you – it was love at first sniff.

I’ve always been a fan of BBQ and bit of a BBQ snob, but the sliders with coleslaw and bbq sauce were amazing! We also got a side of their homemade mac n cheese and potato salad. I could of left full at that point – the food was delicious!
I thought that meal would be my favorite part – but the banana pudding that they suggested I try (and that I wouldn’t want to share) was spot on! In fact, it was an inspiration to try my own homemade recipe yesterday (and unfortunately it wasn’t even close to Sweets & Meats!)

The other truck open during our trip was Roll on In Sushi; now normally I’m not a big sushi fan, but I figured I’d give the salmon sushi taco and crab ragoons a try – definitely a must for sushi lovers! A light, fresh meal and they are made to order.

So make plans to visit the park on Friday May 12th, 19th and 26th! If you are a gold pass member, it’s worth the visit just for the food (and maybe grab a ride or two while you’re there!)

A load of other trucks plan to be featured such as: 1776 Grill with specialty grilled cheese, sweet tea, and chips. Legasea East Coast Eats Cafe with cheesesteaks, subs, chicken tenders and fresh cut fries, as well as many others!

And keep an eye out for all the great events going on in the park this year:

Soak City Water Park
o Soak City Dive-In Movies (7/7, 7/14, 7/21, 7/28)
o WinterFest
o Halloween Haunt
• Planet Snoopy and Family Fun: Kings Island’s Planet Snoopy has won a Golden Ticket Awards for 16 years in a row – so you know it’s a crowd pleaser for the whole family! Meet Snoopy, Charlie Brown and members of the Peanut’s Gang and hang out in Planet Snoopy. Highlights include:
o Woodstock Gliders
o Snoopy’s Space Buggies
o Woodstock Express
o If visiting after Memorial Day, check out Snoopy’s Barnyard Friends!
