Fitness Friday: Help Me, Help You

As I read through Facebook, and fitness sites, the most common thing I always see when discussing how to keep yourself motivated and going  is “get a support group, an accountability partner, Tweet your goals on Twitter, post your work out’s on Facebook and so on.

I have a wonderful support group of ladies who are there to encourage me, and give me inspiration in reaching my own goals over at Fitspiration for Mom’s.  Hearing encouraging words, and being told I can do it, helps when all my hiney wants to do is sit on the couch.

But no matter who you have to support you, I don’t care if Bob or Jillian is there in your house screaming GET UP AND DO IT, you are only going to succeed if you want it. I’m not trying to belittle the positive results that you can get with you have a group or a partner to be accountable with. But what I am telling you, is it’s not up to them, it’s up to you.

When your at home, and the kids are in bed and it’s 10 p.m. and you have the option of working out, or sitting on the couch and eating the rest of the cookies that your kids left out on the table, your partner isn’t there to tell you no. Your group isn’t there to say let’s do this together, or throw the cookies in the garbage to keep you from yourself.  Ultimately you have to want it, to do it.

I have myself, sat and wrote a post about healthy eating, while eating pop tarts and a big glass of milk sitting at my desk. I have, in the past, exaggerated my numbers because I ate whatever I wanted all weekend and didn’t push myself to get a work out in.

I’ve sat there, feeling sorry for myself because my husband was a jackhole, and my boss and co-workers gave me a hard time at work, and the kids were being hellions and told myself I deserve to eat that pizza and the ice cream in the freezer.

What I’m trying to say is, YOU HAVE TO WANT IT, deep down, to get it. Your heart has to be in it 100%. You have to pick yourself back up when you fall and know each day, each moment, is an opportunity for you to do the right things for yourself.
