With the school year already in full swing, I have decided that this is the year. The year that I stay organized, keep the house clean, the laundry done, and the meals planned. Part of my meal planning process not only includes lunches and dinners, but snacks as well (those are just as important, right?! ) With my hectic schedule and all my big plans for keeping on top of things I came up with some yummy quick & easy snack ideas for the kids to grab to curb their sweet cravings after dinner.
Now I am not one for complicated recipes – the easier and faster, the better. I want a delicious tasting treat that the whole family will enjoy that I can pull together in between putting dinner in the oven and doing some dishes. I don’t like a lot of mess. We picked out some of our favorite flavors of Jello-O pudding mix and a big tub of Cool Whip (my favorite – I could eat it on anything!)
Now I am a mason jar FANATIC. They are awesome for dishing out individual serving sizes and easy and convenient to use in a hurry. I use them for salads, soups, and many other dishes and they are perfect for desserts. I decided to make a mason jar banana cream pie dessert, and an Oreo pie dessert as well.
For the Mason jar Banana Cream Pie Dessert you will need: 1 box of Jell-O Banana cream pudding, 1/2 tub of Cool Whip, milk, and Vanilla wafers. I always buy the instant pudding because it literally only takes 5 minutes to sit and be ready to mix. Crumble about 3 vanilla wafer cookies into the bottom of your pint size mason jar. In a mixing bowl combine the Jell-O banana cream pudding and the 1/2 tub Cool Whip. Mix well and put 1/2 cup into mason jar. Top with a dollop of cool whip and a few vanilla wafer -tada! Banana pudding pie in a jar! #AddCoolWhip
We did a similar recipe for the Mason Jar Oreo Pie Dessert. Instead of Vanilla wafer cookies we used Oreos. I have to admit this is one of my favorites! You can also do the same with other flavors of pudding depending on your mood and cravings – the chocolate is another favorite in the house as well. I love making these and having them in the frig ready to be eaten. whenever the mood strikes.
As you can see my kids really enjoy their own little individual jar pies, and it’s great because they can’t fight over who got a bigger piece!
