Say Goodbye to Whining – in YOU and your kids

When I was approached about doing a review for this book, Say Goodbye to Whining, Complaining and Bad Attitudes in You and Your Kids! I had to smile..because I already owned the book.
Like most Moms when I start to feel my methods aren’t working, I turn to my family and friends to ask how to ‘fix’ my kids. I have an 11 yr old going on 16, a 9 yr old who thinks she’s a queen, and a 4 year old who thinks (and sometimes does) have me a bit wrapped around his pinkie. Now don’t get me wrong over all my kids are pretty well behaved.. but there are days I am ready to throw in the towel – and I overreact and answer their bad attitude with one of my own. So when a friend recommended this book I thought I’d give it a shot.

From the Inside Flap

Adding honor as a factor in raising kids ?and parent-child relationships.

Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller offer a thorough program for establishing honor as a basis of family life ? not just children honoring parents, but parents respecting children and children honoring each other. Even if honor seems a long way off in your household, you will find practical suggestions here to bring that goal a little closer ? suggestions for kids of all ages. Honor is the biblical value that will bring about good behavior. It?s more than just changing what kids do; it?s changing the deeper issues of the heart that triggered the behavior.

About the Author

Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller started Effective Parenting, Inc., eight years ago to meet the needs of the families through teaching, writing and counseling. The father of five children, Turansky loves to bring practical solutions to everyday problems. Miller, the mother of two, is a pediatric nurse and home-schooling mom. She and Scott team teach with a dynamic presentation style and have previously written Eight Secrets to Highly Effective Parenting.
Reading this book has changed things – is everything perfect? No, of course not. We still have our issues, and sometimes I still have a bad attitude. But overall, we are on our way to being a more respectful family, not only to each other but those around us. I definitely recommend taking a look into this book for yourself and see how it can help change your family.
