For many years we did the traditional Mother’s Day festivities – we went out to eat with my Mom and Grandma (and the rest of the family) then back to my parent’s house for dessert and to give gifts and cards. Though I love the time together as a family, it was as stressful sometimes as the holidays – dealing with all the kids, trying to find a restaurant that didn’t have a gazillion other Mom’s and their families there as well. That was up until a few years ago we decided to have a Mom’s Day Out.
Mom’s Day out consist of – myself, my sister, my Mom, my Grandma, and up until a few years ago, my Great-Grandma (otherwise known as “Nana pronounced Nanny). Sometimes my girls would tag along for the fun, but this is a once a year occurrence – no other time in the year are we able to escape from the chores and busy-ness of life to just enjoy each others company and get pampered!
Our Mom’s Day Out consistent of pedicures (just in time for Spring!) , shopping, and lunch. We probably look like quite a crew coming into the spa – all wanting to sit by each other and have our toes done at the same time.
The girls absolutely LOVED getting pampered – and my daughter enjoyed being able to get flowers painted on her toes (because Mom is so not creative like that). The great thing is that most locations that we have went to have given me a break on the price of the pedicures for the girl’s since there is a boat load of us coming in to get our toes done.
Nothing feels better then a nice fresh pedi. After a long winter of being rough on our feet, it’s great to be able to relax and enjoy some pampering, and of course some shopping and lunch with the most important ladies in my life!
This has become an annual tradition – and I can’t wait until Saturday for this years Mom’s Day Out!

That is such a wonderful idea to have a Mom's Day out! Mom's need a day to be pampered and have fun and get a much needed break. This is what I need to do! Your pedicure's looked great.
Sounds like a great tradition and very relaxing. I'm sort of dreading taking my mom out to eat on Mother's Day because I just know all the restaurants will be packed which makes the whole experience a whole lot more stressful. Maybe we'll just go out and get pampered too :)
I love the idea of having a day of pampering. There is nothing better than pedis and massages!
I just found your blog through ourhollydays and it is wonderful!!!
Looks like a fun way to get out, relax, and enjoy Mother's Day! We will probably just go out to eat, but I hope I'm surprised with tickets to a musical or something.
One of our favorite girl thing to do is to go get our nails done. What a wonderful time of fellowship and memory building.
We get together and have a big cookout- women do the food shopping but guys have to cook and clean! Happy Mother's Day Krissy!
Looks like a great time was had. My daughter and son both surprised me with a pedicure on moms day. It was my very first pedicure and as reluctant as I was to go in once I knew what was planned( I don't like others touching and seeing my feet that up close and personal) I had a great time.
Y'all are great and what a terrific idea! My sisters and I stayed at home and my nephew made us an incredible dinner on the grill that we all enjoyed. It was special
