My personal GOALS for 2013

I’ve had a lot of people ask me what my New Years Resolutions are and I keep saying I’m not sure yet. I hate the term, frankly because I’ve always failed at them. I’ll do great for about 3 months (sometimes less, sometimes more), then I give up. So what’s the purpose of starting a resolution I know I’m not going to follow through with?

So after talking to some friends, and reading through everyone’s list, I’ve decided I’m going to set some goals. Instead of a huge list of things I won’t do, and things I will, I’ve narrowed it down to just a few and I’m in the process of making a step-by- step list on how to get there (see my 10 tips & tricks to staying on track here).

1. I will ‘unplug’ myself more often, to stay ‘plugged’ in with my kid

*I’m not saying I’m giving up my computer, or deleting Facebook, or Twitter  or getting rid of my Smartphone. But I have noticed myself being pulled in away with every BUZZ of my phone. Is that fair to my kids? No. So at  certain times each evening I will be unplugged and so will they. We will interact, even if it is yelling at each other

2. I will become organized and stay that way

*I am a working Mama. I have 3 kids in every time of extra curricular activity you could think of. My house is living proof. So for the next few months my goal is to get my house (and my chore and grocery list) organized enough where I know what needs to be done on a daily basis to keep my house from turning into complete chaos. There’s a soccer game right after work on Tuesday? Mama has dinner in the crock pot.  The kids get to get in on this one because I’ve added not a chore list mind you, but a 1/2 hour of “help mommy” to each other their days. That way, whatever needs done can be done and I don’t hear “But that’s not on my list!”

3. Get healthy.

Notice I didn’t say ‘lose weight’. Though that is my ultimate goal, the scale is just a number. There are many women who weigh 180 lbs who are more ‘in shape and healthy’ then a woman who weighs 130. This is about being healthy and happy not only for myself, but for my family.

As the weeks go on, I will share our tips (and failures) and I encourage you to share yours as well! Tweet at me on Twitter @Krissy_r – I will help you keep accountable in your goals as well.

To a very MERRY, UNPLUGGED, ORGANIZED, HEALTHY NEW YEAR!
