Get the Most Bang for Your Tax Buck with Walmart Lowest Priced Unlimited Plans

Over the past year I’ve been trying to convince my Mom it was time for her to move out of the dark ages and get a smart phone. She’s been using an old LG Envy flip phone that only gives her the option of text and calls. The worst part is in her current plan she’s limited to a certain amount of texts and minutes. I didn’t even know plans like that still existed! As we began the search for her a smartphone with her current provider, we were both shocked about how much it would cost for her to upgrade to a smart phone with limited data, and minutes: Nearly $100 a month after taxes and service fees! I told her I knew just the place she needed to check out, so we headed to Walmart to check out the cheapest wireless plans through the Family Mobile Plan.

If you’ve never shopped for phones at Walmart, you need to. We headed back to the electronics section to see what type of phone and plan we could find that would save my Mom money, and offer her unlimited well, ..everything. I had purchased a Walmart #FamilyMobile phone for my daughter about 6 months ago through #CollectiveBias who introduced me to this great Walmart Family Mobile, and I knew my Mom would love that the plan was only $39.88 a month for unlimited talk, text and data.

The hard part, was working within her budget. When it comes to things like electronics, she thinks less is better. After all, she has had that old flip phone for like, I don’t know, 6 years? Where I would invest $200-$300 to have the phone I want, she wanted to stay under $100. Though I told her  I was purchasing it as a gift since I was getting a decent tax return, she insisted  and I was pleasantly surprised at how many options there were under $100. (I now know exactly what phones I’ll be getting my kids when we make the final switch over this summer!)

The Alcatel One-Touch Evolve is the perfect phone for under $10o! Right now Walmart has them on SALE for $79.88! This is a great deal, and with the monthly payment plan being less then $40 a month, we both left Walmart feeling pretty happy, happy, happy.  She loves her new phone and the best part is she never has to rush off, or text ‘call me’ because she’s running close to her limit. She is really enjoying some of the apps you can only enjoy on a smartphone such as Instagram and Foursquare. She’s also able to enter “Text to Win” sweepstakes since she has unlimited texts now; it was a total SCORE!

  • I didn't know about this - we were going to check out verizon since we only have tracfones which are ok but I have to watch my minutes. I wonder what carrier they run off since we live in a rural area and we don't have many choices as far as coverage.

    • Ellen, they have a map where you can put in your zip and see how the coverage is in your area. It's grow even from the last time I checked 6 months ago. We are in the process ourselves of making the switch from Verizon to Family Mobile, It will save us $150 a MONTH on 5 phones! We finish out the last contract in October, so I'm excited to really start saving some money!

  • Walmart Family Mobile offers such an amazing deal! I love the price of the phones and hte plans are insanely inexpensive and 3G! I bet your mom will love it!

  • I didn't know they had such a wide variety of phones and plans. This might be just the thing for my teens that are wanting phones. These prices are certainly better than recently quoted through out other plan.

  • Wow! I pay over $100 each month for my Sprint plan --- unlimited talk, unlimited text but not unlimited data!! I think we are going to have to look into making the switch. It honestly may be cheaper to pay to cancel our contract with as much as we would save!! Your mom will be so excited!

  • WOW! What a great deal! I never thought of going to Walmart for a phone plan! I will have to tell my mom about this!

  • This is great to know that Walmart has such great mobile phone plans! I will share this with my sister!
