Diagnosis Online Now with American Well

Have you ever needed to go to the Doctor, but just didn’t have the time?? I’ve been suffering with pain in my arm for a few weeks now – I think I know what it is (a pinched nerve for lifting weights) and I knew I should get into the Doctor to make sure, and find out what I needed to do to make it better. But my work schedule and my kids schedule, not to mention trying to get an appointment can be a big headache. That’s why I felt it was a divine intervention (Angels singing here) when I discovered American Well.

With American Well you can hop on your computer, in the comfort of your own home (or office), and talk or video chat with a Doctor to discuss your symptoms or problems. I hopped on while I was at work and decided to give it a shot – The Doctor was knowledgeable, kind, and caring. We were able to discuss my symptoms and problems, and she was able to give me a diagnosis – all from the comforts of my desk chair, on my lunch break! No need to wait for hours in office, using up valuable vacation time.  It is available on your smart phone, tablet or computer.
BONUS: The fee for talking to her was less then my Family Doctor Co-Pay!

They can write you a prescription quickly as well if you need it and send it to your choice of pharmacy. What’s really neat is that it is available 24/7, 365 days per year. When regular doctor’s offices are closed, American Well is still open. Late at night with questions about your child, on vacation or holiday, or busy day’s when you want some advice, or  you just can’t make the time to get into your physician. What’s great is they will actually share your file with your current family practitioner so everyone is on the same page when it comes to your health and wellness.

  1. Wow! This is great! I often times want to ask a question but don’t want to go actually go to the Dr. I had never heard of American Well. Thanks!

  2. Kecia says:

I am always Googling symptoms to see if I need to schedule a doctor’s appointment for myself, my hubby, or my kids. It’s nice that there’s a single website to help!

  3. I love that it’s a video chat. It’s the convenience of google search without the terrible false diagnosis that you can give yourself!

  4. Wow, technology truly makes everything convenient. Though I like going to my doctor, there are times (such as when on vacation or when I can’t get an apt.) that a virtual doctor would be awesome. I’ll have to check this out!

  5. I think that being able to talk or video chat with a Doctor to discuss your symptoms or problems is fantastic! For minor problems this would save both the doctor and myself time and money. I would be interested in this program for my house.

  6. Henrietta says:

Wow, I had no idea this service existed! I can think of many times when my children were smaller that this would have come in handy! I will certainly keep it in mind for the future!

  7. gaynycdad says:

That is amazing. And thanks for the coupon! I usually self diagnose for the whole family, but I don’t think my background as a blogger has any medical standing!

  8. This is an interesting concept. I think it will be good in certain situations

  9. Brandi says:

That would be really cool! I love that the service isn’t relatively inexpensive. However, if you are paying that every single time you talk to a doctor, that could add up.

  10. I should use that as I think I have a torn rotator cuff.

  11. This sounds like it would be a great resource for people with no insurance or those with copays and deductibles.

  12. That is a great option for people who just have a quick question here and there.

  13. With so many not having insurance due to the expense this will be a great resource.

  14. Angela says:

American well sounds wonderful. It would be especially great for people with work schedules during the week days when they can’t get off work to go to the doctor.

  15. This is such an interesting idea! I love it!!

  16. sippycupmom says:

Okay, this is so cool. I always put off seeing the doctor for myself. I need to look into joining.

  17. Jessica says:

This is the perfect alternative for going to the busy doctor office’s to ask minor questions. I really don’t like going to the doctor’s office because they are always so busy and hectic!

  18. Liz Mays says:

The anytime access is such a good feature with this. I can think of many times in the night when I wanted advice!

  19. Wow! What an awesome service!

I think this is great. It’s awesome that you shared the code.

  28. Autumn says:

This sounds like such a useful service! One of my least favorite things about going to the doctor is having to wait in the germy (contagious?) waiting rooms. I love that this eliminates the need to venture out of the house!

  29. Some many people think about taking care of their wills but don’t have time or know how. This service is really help. I need to check it out so I can get start on will.

  30. Amanda says:

This sounds like a great resource for parents (well for everyone!) Thanks for sharing!!

  31. I like that you can talk to a doctor right from home. When I am sick the last thing I feel like doing is heading out the the dr’s office. Plus if you aren’t real sick and just need to talk to a doctor you don’t have to go where all the germs are.

  32. I like the idea. It seems like a great way to use the internet. I’d use it for those in between moments….when you are almost sick enough for the doctor, but not quite.

  33. Ashley M says:

This is such an awesome service! We live in a rural area and lack access to certain types of medical care within easy driving distance.

  34. This sounds like a great, convenient option for those of us who often feel we’re too busy! It might help my husband be more cooperative in talking to a dr when he should too. 🙂

  35. Tatanisha W says:

Oh wow– I’ve never heard of this before. I seem to never have time to go to the Doc I will have to look into this more- thanks for the review!

  36. Marina says:

Last Christmas when I went down with a mild strain of flu and didn’t want to move anywhere.

  37. Julie Wood says:

I think it is a great idea to save money and be able to talk to a doctor about illnesses that are not serious and see what the diagnosis can be. I still think a face to face with the Doctor can be best so they can look and touch the affected area. But for minor problems, I think it is a great idea to talk to a Doctor online.
